Magical! Ethereal!nI was blown away by their sheer majesty of the architecture and artwork.nnWe went during the Christmas season so the displays were of the nativity inside and outside the cathedral. The animated projection on the surface of the cathedral was playing A Christmas Carol cartoon.nnThere was also a statement for peace which offered much comfort during these times.nnThe cathedral is a beautiful reverent space to visit, to pray, to attend a service and of course for joyous occasions like weddings.nnThere are paid parking garages in the vicinity. We caught a cab in as we aren’t far.nnDuring the Christmas season there are food stalls outside the cathedral and Christmas lights.nHighly recommend a visit!
I love this cathedral. I have been going to this cathedral for over 50 years and have seen great changes internally and externally. It remains a great respite from the busyness outside. It's a place for almost silent prayer and devotion, though there are many more tourists these days who are on the whole very respectful of this sanctuary. The stained glass is beautiful, the atmosphere is respectful, and if you happen to be there when the organ is playing, you're in for a treat. Such a beautiful sound. The 10.30 am Mass there on Sunday is what they call a high Mass, so there is lots of beautiful singing and organ playing and incense, of course.
