St Joseph's is a Catholic primary school situated in the suburb of Elsternwick. This warm, community-focused school provides an inclusive and vibrant learning environment for its students. As a Catholic school, we are guided by and strive to live according to the gospel values of Jesus Christ. We provide a curriculum that supports, challenges and engages our students. We currently have an enrolment of 348 students, with 2 grades per year level, from Prep to Grade 6.
Our staff is focused on the delivery of a high standard of learning and teaching, following The Victorian Curriculum. We work together in a co-operative and professional manner to achieve this aim. We recognise the importance of the wellbeing of each person in our school and strive to provide a warm, secure and inclusive environment for all; we are renowned for our approach to Student Wellbeing.
St Joseph's is committed to the development of each unique individual so that he or she may be well-prepared to contribute to a rapidly changing society in a responsible and effective manner. As a Catholic School the beliefs and practices of the Church are our foundation. Gospel values inform every aspect of our work: academic, social, spiritual and moral.
The school provides a dynamic sense of community and fosters a welcoming, family atmosphere. St Joseph's has a very strong parent group who are vital to the sense of belonging in the school. Parents are welcome to participate in all aspects of the school with the main support coming through Parent and Friends, the School Advisory Board, Working Bees and individual contributions in the classrooms, on excursions or for special school events.
