St. John's Catholic church was built in 1836, and is considered the oldest Roman Catholic church in Australia. Good job! A lovely place and well maintained. A nice place to have a quick pray and then amble about the churchyard and read the epitaphs on the tombstones. Many date from the nineteenth century.

Beautiful!!!! As a Catholic in the USA was astounded by the beauty!! Love the architecture and  spiritual peace I felt as I said a pray in this sanctuary

Just a wonderful historic church.  As a Tasmania I visit it everytime I am in Richmond....one of my subjects is the Irish Exile to Van Diemen's Land (Thomas Francis Meagher).  The church's association with Thomas is fascinating.  The oldest continuous church in Australia. Pic:  Meagher's cottage Ross, Tasmania.
