My wife saw her regular pain specialist on 3/12/25. After the consultation, he admitted her into SJoG less than 2 weeks later. I could not believe the speed with which she was going in; I assumed she'd need to wait weeks and weeks. She was in for 7 days, in a room that was twice the size of a normal hospital room. The physio staff were beyond reproach.nThe only gripe was with some of the evening shift staff in Granada ward who allowed noisy visitors to go unchecked over a few nights, one instance until 10:45 pm. You have to be kidding, right? I eventually made my feelings known to the evening head nurse, and the shenanigans stopped, but my wife then seemed to get snubbed by one of the evening nurses, so much so that my normally calm wife reprimanded her for taking 20 mins to get her medication, among other annoyances. All in all, she enjoyed the stay.nI suppose it's like booking into a motel room - you can always find a lightbulb that does not work, but it's still a nice and comfortable room. Well done, SJoG, Frankston.nnEDIT: Received a lovely phone call to apologise for my wife's experience, and that the hospital will look into the occurrences. Well done, SJoG.
Well let me start St John of God Frankston rehab. The nursing staff were very helpful and very nice to me as I was in there in July after having keyhole surgery on my knee the kitchen star went and beyond to make my meals very pleasant after I had a little word with them, and told them that my meals were too small And that I am diabetic and also lactose intolerant so with the things on the menu I couldn’t have, but they went out of their way to make my meals as pleasant as possible and once I had spoken to them, they increased the size of my meals. The cleaning stuff Always left my bathroom, clean and tidy But when it came to physio, they were always very busy and snowed under with the amount of people. They would write the time on the board in my room, but it kept on getting changed. But when it comes to follow-up physio when you have gone home, the follow-up is absolutely dreadful as I was home for over two weeks and I kept on having to ring to find out when I was going to get my follow up physio physio department never got back to me always leave messages for them. I finally got an assessment for follow-up physio about three weeks ago. I do not know why they need to do another assessment when you have been in there as a patient and half the questions they asked would’ve been on my paperwork from being admitted if you asked me a bit of waste of time as I had to be in there by 1:30 pm and left about 4:00 pm thought I was going to do a bit of physio but no basically just balloting as I did not fall over. I felt it was a waste of time and I had done these balancing exercises when I first came in have not got to use the pool or anything. On the 14th August went back to see my surgeon and told him that I haven’t had any follow-up physio so because of this I have decided to go to my own physio. Very very bad follow up from physio especially when you are trying to keep active and get back on your feed properly. Overall my experience with St John’s of God Frankston was quite pleasant. I really did enjoy the music singalong. The woman who takes that class has a fantastic voice your physio department really let you down . So if you need follow-up physio once you have been discharged forget about it unless you want to sit around for weeks or then chasing up the physio department and never getting a response back from them. it is now about seven weeks since I had my keyhole surgery on my knee finally heard back from the physio department at St John’s of God Frankston that I will not be attending as I am going to my own physio. They sent me a text message this morning physio to say I had an appointment Wednesday 27th August at 1:30 pm, but as I said I have made alternative arrangements because I wasn’t prepared to hang around and wait for the physio department absolutely dreadful and I believe I am not the only one who has had trouble trying to get a follow-up appointment with the physio department
The staff are fantastic although sometimes seem stretched but they are empathetic very good to work with. Chloe and Trishna are awesome to have as my case workers.
I cannot speak highly enough of St John of God Frankston. The Nurses, physiotherapists, occupational Therapists, kitchen and cleaning staff were both professional and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble to any of the staff. Physio was through and encouraging. The meals were magnificent and the choices wonderful. The outside garden delightful to sit in. I cannot speak highly enough. I am about to continue my rehabilitation as an outpatient. Thank you for your care.
Please be warned if considering this facility for both inpatient and outpatient support. Communication skills amongst staff and doctors are very poor, some agency nurses who work at this facility are rude and non-caring as well as many staff to doctor messages going ignored when needed most.nnIf you are in need of a rehab facility which accept TAC/WorkCover, Private Health & Self-funded support I can’t recommend more then enough that you avoid this facility. Instead I highly recommend you seek support from Belura Private or Victorian Rehabilitation Hospital as they have the facilities and communications in place to assist you in your recovery as well as speedy admissions and support. For someone like myself who has worked in health care billing and fully aware of health fund requirements and doctor obligations, clearly non of these proper check and balances occur at this facility which is very concerning.nnPlease also note, that if you are at your lowest and in major pain, instead of working on a solution and helping you, they just say the generic “go to ED or a GP” in order to avoid the issue in which they do best. Other facilities where I have worked at instead work with you and listen to you and will always leave ED and GP referral as a last resort.nnTo the Doctor, you know who you are we are still waiting for your follow up phone call you promised let alone an email, after you provided a “failed discharge” on a Sunday morning to my wife and left her leaving worse off then when she came in.
