St James, is possibly one the most significant schools in Melbourne They have a diverse culture and they’re teachers have a significantly high aptitude for understanding their boy’s in a Catholic school and how to handle them The breed of men that come from this school are like non other Their network’s are sacred and their school fee’s are more than reasonable
I attended here St James College at the time back between years 1997 and 2000. I had a terrible experience at this school that failed me with my past experiences and left me with mental scars for life. I was physically and verbally bullied nearly everyday and on a few occasions became very angry and violent because the school would not help me with me being bullied, so the only way for me to feel better about what to do was at that time my father taught me to hit back only at school because back in year 1962 my father was bullied at his school as a child and he broke another students nose as payback because the teachers would not sort out the problems. My father did not get into any trouble for being provoked. Year 8 and Year 10 were my worst years at this school, I never received any support from any of my teachers for my suffering. Very disappointed with my childhood experience.
The students there are plain horrible. In sports all they do is play dirty. In one sport occasion, I experienced an accident where a Saint bedes student knocked out another student in Whiteftiars college and they were out cold for 40 minutes. The saint bedes student didn't even apologize, but laugh. In hockey, saint bedes injured, hurt, and swore at us. The teachers teach them wrong, and I wouldn't suggest putting your child into this horrible school.
I feel amazing at this school. Wonderful teachers, wonderful environment and education is top notch. This school has many opportunities and students always have the chance to make them happen. Once again, wonderful school, wonderful teachers, wonderful learning environment and I'll be hear until I graduate in year 10.
School is school, but before this was merged with St Bede's I went to school here. It's difficult to recommend as this school only goes up to Year 10. Although the transition to the Mentone campus may be easy, it's not easy especially for locals in the area. I won't ponder on about that, though. Let me just write down my own experience. I'm neurodivergent, and this school wasn't the place for me. I often saw bullying happening and nothing happening, and being complacent in bullying carries on in life as I've seen, so why is this taking place in a place where people are in that time of their life most important for development? This needs to be drilled into people's minds and dealt with promptly. We don't want a following from what we've heard from other private schools in Melbourne... I also saw a fellow friend trying to receive the support he needed since he had autism and learning difficulties, and didn't receive ample support. He left I think at the end of Y8. I also needed support but it was really difficult as the higher level support person was, ill-tempered at best, but also was lazy. Always on their iPad doing something and not really paying attention. I wish I got paid to stand around and browse social media. It was good coming later to the year, classes and people were known well enough to have quite balanced classes. It's good to keep and remove a lot of teachers, and I especially miss all of the arts / music / drama teachers, they were always absolutely lovely to just have a chat with - along with other teachers, although it's also been quite a few years! Overall, there was good and bad parts of attending school here. It wasn't good for me, even after having access to the psychologist and a little bit of study support. I would most likely recommend the surrounding public schools if you need more help in that regard. I also hope they've actually moved from using iPads and tablets all together...
Awesome school. St James is a small school so individual attention is possible. Well run, great teachers, good discipline. Do not see any bullying as noted by other reviews. We are happy to have chosen St James for our son.
As a previous student this school is HORRIBLE would never send anyone here my parents decided to send my little brother somewhere else. School is full off bullies and teachers who pick on kids they dont like by excluding them from all sporting activities, camps ect trying to find any little excuse they can if they dont like you. Grow up teachers your adults not kids picking on teenagers
Terrible school started in 2014 left at the end of the year. most of the kids are bullies. the teachers are mean and don't know anything and the principle is not good at handling bullies either. If you are thinking about sending your son to this school take him somewhere else. one of the worst schools in Melbourne
Went there from 2011 to 2014. What a great school with great knowledgeable teachers. Good fun, friendly students, and awesome times. It may only go to Year 10, but it well prepares you for VCE and beyond
School was full of bullies and teachers that were complacent in bullying. I know a couple current students and to no surprise all, they aren’t any better than the bullies that were there when I was a student.
