The proprietor wasn't exactly welcoming when we first arrived, but it seems he's not used to seeing people arrive on foot.Maybe he thought we were salespeople or religious zealots? In any case, he warmed up a lot as we chatted and tasted the wine. The winery itself has the look of an old chapel or of being a room in someone's house. In other words, it's not what we'd call a slick operation, especially with the neighbor's run down house and aggressively barking dog at the bottom of the drive. We tasted four wines and were frankly surprised to find they were really good, especially the pinot gris and the pinot noir. This is a small, casual operation run by a Hungarian guy who just happens to be a really good winemaker. In all, we'd say if you really love wine, it's worth coming to do a tasting here. Just don't expect the usual sort of experience. Normally I'd give a place like this three stars, but because the wine was so good I'm giving it four.
Don't waste your time. Appears to be no longer in operation.
