I’m disappointed with the level of care I received at hospital regarding a recent eye infection.nThe doctors who treated me appeared to have a very poor understanding of eye infections and injuries. During my eye test, the letters used were so large that it was impossible to accurately assess the severity of my condition. I had a fever, Instead of prescribing a suitable antibiotic in the vein as the oral medication isn’t working, after waiting 2h I was offered a Panadol, which is clearly not an appropriate treatment for an eye infection.nIt is incredibly frustrating to encounternsuch a lack of expertise in a major Australian hospital. I hope that steps will be taken to improve the quality of care provided by emergency department doctors, particularly in relation to eye health. A proper ophthalmologist should be readily available to assess and treat eye injuries and infections.
Brought my 7 year old in last Saturday night at about 8.30pm with a temperature of 40. Medication was not bringing it down. It kept rising. Saw a nurse who asked me questions and took his temp and said he’ll have a temp for 3 days and to use panadol and neurofen. Saw another nurse who said the other nurse said his temp was 37 and she can’t find a thermometer and will be back. No one came back for over an hour or said what I was waiting for. I had a thermometer on me and checked his temp and it was 39. He was getting upset and wanted to go to bed. I tried to get the attention of a nurse in the office and no one would look over. Another nurse saw me leaving and I told her the story and she said I should be waiting to see a doctor and I could go home if I like. I said if the doctors not long I’ll wait and she went to see how long the wait was. I waited a little while and no one came back again. There was no communication. I went home. It turned out he had mycoplasma pneumoniae walking pneumonia and his left lung was infected. He needed antibiotics.
We waited today from arnd 3am to 8.30am!nSuper friendly staff, but poor system.nNo doctors on night shift.nOnly 1 nurse available.nAfter we waited for 2hrs, i told the nurse if we could sleep in the car and give us a call when its our turn. And she said if we missed the call thn we hv to wait much longer or do the whole process again from pre check.nPLUS she said that someone waited 6 hours and not even in yet.nAnd when we got in, blood stains on the floor, little rubbish everywhere.nnThe best thing about this emergency is they have Grain Waves on their vending machine.nPLUS decent coffee vending machine with no lid & the staff.nnThis Emergency is in EmergencynnThank you
Spent most of the night sitting, waiting to see a doctor for serious knee injury. Watched a series of other patients walk out during the night. Nurses behind the glass of the station only had vague promises when I asked them. Around 3am someone called me. Then this doctor was called away, he left abruptly for two hours and I didn't know what to expect. Later met Dr Eugenie ?, who helped me with crutches and food, she was great, the only staff who seemed interested. After a couple of scans I was admitted finally, a relief.nnEDIT This is typical though of public health in NSW. Actually the Hospital was very good in most other ways, I would go there again...
Spare 3-4 hours before you coming here.. from one nurse to another then from one doctor to another, they way they talked even making me uncomfortable. Asking why like this and that, if I know of course I won’t visit. Better to go clinic. Emergency that doesn’t give any emergency service.
