Squires Loft Docklands

About

The Steak Specialist

Story

The first Squires Loft was opened in 1992 in Church Street Brighton. Our reputation for consistently delivering great steaks and unique flavours led us to a larger store in South Yarra where we are still located today.
The success of the Squires Loft formula and demand for Squires Loft branded products led to substantial interest from staff, customers and business owners who wanted to duplicate the business. This has resulted in 15 steakhouse restaurants operating around Australia.
These steakhouses are located around Melbourne, Country Victoria, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Western Australia. Further steakhouses are in the pipeline and there is significant interest, which we believe should lead to more Squires Loft steakhouses opening.
As a result of this demand and significant recognition of the Squires Loft name, Squires Loft FRANCHISE Pty Ltd has been formed to enable the expansion of the brand.

Loved the food! Although squires loft is known for it's Steak so it's always usually yummy this Squire's really did it well. The staff were very friendly and mostly had smiles. They even added a candle to my desert all because I mentioned it was my birthday. Would definitely recommend visiting this Squire's if your after a really good steak.
Really good food. I got the T-bone for my bucks night. It was a little on the rare side, which worked well for this cut. The sides were enormous. The baked mushrooms even converted a friend who has never liked mushrooms before, so I strongly recommend them. Price was good too. Pretty rare to find a steak joint that includes a side baked potato with your meal these days. Overall, very happy.
Had an amazing dinner at this CBD steak house. I know if I was working on the top end of Collins or Bourke St this would absolutely be my haunt. The service was really friendly and easy going. The menu has great variety with a clear focus on classic steak house meals. From the starters, the fetta mushrooms were amazing. The combination of flavours melded so perfectly! Def recommend these. Bread was pretty stingy so can def hear my mother in my ear whispering "don't fill up on bread" - it's ok Mum little chance of that here lol. Now the mains... The ribs!! OMG the ribs... I went for the pork ribs and they were so juicy and tender... I got extra glaze and I am so glad that I did. A-may-zing! My friend had the steak and it was tender and really well accompanied with the blue cheese sauce. Finishing off with the sticky date pudding really put an amazing cap to the evening. While I don't drink the wine selection looked well chosen. Def a great restaurant, perfect for relaxed evening or perhaps to take that client after meetings in town. Recommended.
A bloody amazing meal !! We had the steak & blue cheese sauce which was TO DIE FOR. The ribs & mushrooms the staff could not do enough for us. They are bloody brilliant & I’ll definitely be going back & suggesting to all my friends & family.
Poor overall experience. Problems and disappointment from the start. 1. Tried to book by phone but forced to book online. Only problem was site kept rejecting my phone number. Left a message on voicemail and heard nothing for 2 days. Tried again next day. Finally on third day site took my details and later that day someone returned my original call. 2. Service was poor. Six tables seated with 3 staff available. Waiter forgot to come back to take my drinks order. Had to give it to the food waitress. 3. My steak was horrible. See pic. Not 'marble' but globs of stringy fat. I was able to eat half. Waiter halfway though eating eventually came to ask if it was 'cooked okay?'. Not whether the meal was okay. 4. My 3 companions said their steaks were 'okay - not great'. The cheapest stake we had was $46. At this price there are a lot better restaurants in Melbourne!
Eye Fillet Steak w Prawn Skewer, Mushroom Sauce Angus Porterhouse Steak w Pepper Fried Onions Side Caesar Salad The classic grill house chain Squires Loft has been around for over 25 years and have expanded to 17 stores over VIC, WA and even Thailand! They source their top quality beef primarily from Victoria’s Gippsland. When I first visited their Docklands restaurant I remembered it being quite romantic on the waterfront. That was about 5 years ago and since then i feel like it has changed into something more low key and family-friendly. The staff are very friendly and personable. Both the food and beverage menu’s were pretty simple, we each ordered a steak and some shared sides. The steaks were as good as I remembered, perfectly cooked with a lot of flavour from their special basting sauce. The prawns had a nice char on them but most of the sides here need a little bit of TLC, the Caesar salad was sad, I wouldn’t order it again. The chips and onions were crispy but average. I would recommend this for a casual dining experience, you can get a good steak at a decent price.
ORDERED:   Porterhouse 300g: All mains are served with your choice of chips/ baked potato/ salad and is cooked with Squires Loft's special basting sauce $45.00 Mushroom sauce $5.00    Fried Onions $10.00 I spent $60.00 here. REVIEW: For one of the more affordable steakhouses around Melbourne CBD, Squires Loft does you good. The porterhouse is cooked perfectly medium rare, while the mushroom sauce is creamy and generous in portion. The garden salad I had on the side was also a great way to break up the steak, and a good break from being overloaded with potatoes. Fried onions were different from what I was expecting. I lowkey assumed it would come out in the form of onion rings, but the sliced onion pieces are battered and thrown in the fryer. Interesting texture, but definitely big enough to share between 4. If you want a break from the traditional fries, onions are definitely worth your consideration. Service is really friendly, and the iced water provided and continuously topped up was fantastic. The girls are so attentive. Atmosphere is a little outdated though. Instead of bringing back retro vibes, it is a little awkward with its mismatch of dark brown tones, casino-patterned flooring and stiff back leather chairs. Comfy, but not a place that emulates sophistication. The ground floors views spilling on to the Yarra river is nice though!
WOW.... We were told this was the best place for steak in Melbourne and although we have nothing to compare it with, I can't imagine anywhere better. Both steak and ribs were cooked to perfection..Food: 5/5
Food was great, price is reasonable for steak. Around $50 a head depending on the type of steak you order.Food: 5/5
The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection Don’t waste your time and money on the sauce, although it’s not bad, it’s certainly not necessaryRecommended dishesPork Ribs
