Walked from Manly to the Spit and never had a boring moment! I would've like more signs or a better map but this trail is my ultimate favourite walk in Sydney. Has lots of stairs and gorgeous views. I can barely wait to walk this trail again!
A gorgeous costal path that blends city parks, beaches and light bushwalking.nnThe highlight for me was the Grotto Point rock engravings, and I enjoyed the relative wilderness of the trail from Grotto Point down into Reef Beach. Plan for a swim at Reef Beach—you won’t be disappointed.nnI took public transit two buses from the CBD: 140 and transferred to the 144 to the Spit so that I could walk into Manly and take a ferry back. The extra effort it took to first travel by bus paid off when I enjoyed an afternoon in Manly and then easily hopped on to a ferry home.
One of my favorite walk, hike, running trails. It’s a must if you want to feel like you’re far away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. I prefer to start hike at the Spit Bridge then following the long trail to Manly. Use google maps or follow the signs along the way. You could hike the trail either way…. But when you end in Manly you’ve got the beach, shopping and plenty of places to eat and have an adult beverage after the long hike. Great stops along the way for taking in the beautiful scenery. This trail is not beginner level. It has lots of ups and downs and usually is wet with puddles in some places. A few private beaches to linger at as well if you want to enjoy the beautiful waters along the trail. If you’re out of shape, don’t go. I’m almost 60 and not fit but this trail is worth every step. Plan on a two to three hour adventure. You can take the bus to Spit or a $24.00 Australian DollarUber ride, which I prefer. Then in Manly, take the ferry back to Circular Quay. Also suggest that you go on a week day, weekends can be a bit busy.
Great experience walking with family of 4 with two kids. I didn’t know there were so many stairs though!nnA number of options to take longer breaks and get food, beautiful views, feels doable for all ages.nnDefinitely bring water, and have a decent pair of shoes.nnLooking forward to doing it again.
Favourite trail. Start at Spit Bridge and finish at Manly Wharf. When we went in late June, there were track closures and were redirected to an alternate route signs were a little confusing. More grueling than Coogee-Bondi but more rewarding. The 10km walk combines natural, sandy, and pavement tracks and takes you pass natural landscapes and great lookout spots.
