I can’t believe I have lived in Sydney and never done this walk. We walked from the Spit to Manly, I would recommend this way as the reward of getting to Manly is much nicer than arriving at the Spit and having to wait for a Bus, arriving in Manly you can have a coffee/lunch/beer etc and then take a magnificent ferry back to Circular Quay. The walk itself if a mix of easy and moderate walking, much of the walk is not paved so if you are uneasy on your feed it may be a little difficult, I suggest starting closer to manly where it begins to be national park managed not council. The views of the harbour are amazing, I have never seen Sydney Heads from the view of this walk, truely an even better view than being on a ferry.
This is a beautiful stunning coastal walk. Did it on a lovely stunning day, oh my word! There are so many pretty beaches to stop and dip in along the way, you are spoilt for choice Gorgeous scenic views everywhere. Very easy and flat.
This walk is one of my favorites walks in Sydney. I believe it’s a coastal walk however there are times where you go through small jungles and cliffs. It’s not much crowded and could definitely spend time on view points. Beaches on the way where we can dive in.Visited onWeekendWait time1 hr+Reservation recommendedNo
We completed this walk on a mostly overcast day but the moodiness of the forested headlands and inlets was just sublime. If you’re reasonably fit then you could probably do this walk in a couple of hours non-stop. But if you’re like us and stopped off at a cafe along the way and admired the views at various points then it will take longer and nearer to 3 hours, especially having regard to the number of up and down steps until you get close to Manly. I also loved the abundance of native flowers dotting the path and the little grotto with Aboriginal carvings. Be aware of the puddles in the path at various points along the way due to the rain some of them are quite muddy. Parts of it could be better sign-posted to get back on the track eg around Clontarf or Dobroyd Head but easily resolved by referring to Google Maps. A great Sydney walk
This is my favourite walk in Sydney. It’s about 10km and a mix of boardwalks, stairs and trails. Bring water and snacks and enjoy the scenery along the way. It wasn’t too busy either.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Wow! This one of Sydney's best walks that I have done! With spectacular views and scenery, and wonderful people that I have met along the way. Best 10km walk that I have done. I did not even mind the soreness of legs, for it was worth itVisited onWeekend
Such a great hike along the coast! The section from spit bridge to the oval in the middle is a little rougher, but after the oval the trail had been freshly done and it's a super smooth hike. A little busy on the weekend, but not to bad. Lots of lizards and other wildlife to see on the way, not to mention the great views of the harbor and the heads. Lots of beautiful flowers at this time of year October. My leg's definitely felt it on arrival in Manly.
Great easy walk. Amazing views. Several beautiful beaches along the way. Make sure you wear sunscreen and a hat, as there's not a lot of shade.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
One of the best coastal walks around Sydney. It takes about 3 -4 hours with short breaks. Started at Spit West Reserve. It's easy to get there by buses from Wynyard. Starting at Spit has the advantage of reaching Manly for lunch with more options and then taking a ferry back to Circular Quay.
This is close to home and we regularly do this walk or parts of it. Unbelievably scenic part of Sydney worth sharing with visitors or just enjoy on your own. On weekend In summer it can get very busy so I’d recommend an early start and finish with a brunch in Manly or at Spit Bridge afterwards.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
