This is a real jewel and a little hidden treasure. This is what a great destination is all about for me. A but hidden, eclectic, refined and charming. A large selection of Asian food. It is nice to eat during the day and especially at night. Besides the great food there is also outstanding street art. A place I love to take locals and guests alike. a place you can always meet somebody new. Vegetarian options: Plenty! Dietary restrictions: Most restaurants here can accommodate Parking: Best to take public transport Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes- it can get crowded but they are happy to accommodate you
Spice Alley is a delightful excursion to the tastes and aromas of Asian food. Quality Asian food. My favorite place is called ginger and spice. Excellent service, outstanding fresh food, everyone wants to be there and is happy to be there in the interest of providing good service and great food. There are many wonders to be discovered here, so I recommend a trip to Spyce Alley.
A great way to experience affordable authentic tastes from all over Asia in one spot ... with a little something for every taste pallet. High lights - the Shanghai Dumpling Bar and Tabe-ru Japanese. A great bustling vibe with a mix of traditional and funky decor. Parking is difficult but definitely worth the experience.
Lovely hawker place for anyone craving asian food. I enjoyed the colourful, lively atmosphere made cozy by the heaters and lamps on a breezy night. Lots of food choices including Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, Singaporean and Vietnamese. We tried the char kuay teow, squid, grilled chicken, nasi lemak rice, braised beef soup, teh tarik. Would love to get back and try other meals. Definitely a gem in the city!
Food are so so during promo not all dishes are available to purchase and I suspect they reduce the quality or content of the food due to discounted price. This place used to be great in the first year they opened but now forgotten.Food: 3/5
Great place for having lunch or dinner with friends or colleagues. Lots of food options and overall taste is good. Afternoon ambience and vibes was great and people enjoyed it
First time I have been here. Very friendly shop owner and catering staff. Atmosphere like you are travel somewhere in Asia pacific like Malaysia, Vietnam or China. I ordered; Penang char kway teow. Nasi goreng. All with highly flame cook in a short time. High skill chef. I also ordered some dim sum from the Chinese takeaway shop. Fried Prawns hargow. Ham sui cok. A beautiful snack on the way back to the hotel.
Spice Alley is Sydney's hawker centre an open-air food centre. It is located about a 5 minute walk from Central Station. I have been here a number of times before. It is a place I come back to repeatedly. The time of day as well as the day you choose to go impacts the atmosphere and vibe of the centre. On a weekday lunch, it can be a bit quiet, but weekends tend to be bustling and busy, which is what I find exciting about hawker centres. On this particular occasion, I found the atmosphere to be excellent. The place has vibrant wall art, lots of hanging lanterns of assorted sizes, and decorations from the various cultures of the food stores there. There was upbeat music playing at just the right volume in the background. Service on this occasion was really good too. Staff worked hard and well as a team to keep customers fed and moving along. Even though there were a lot of diners, the place was clean. All staff I interacted with were friendly, helpful and courteous. What I like about this hawker centre is the mix of cuisines offered. There is Singaporean, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Hong Kong, Japanese and Thai. There is also a store selling pasta for those who would prefer that. You could eat a starter from one culture and then a main from another! It is a good opportunity to mix and match. It is good for share plates and I feel there is a bit of everything for everyone. There are also two bars where you can purchase drinks from. Spice Alley is good for solo dining, a meal with family or friends, or to take a visitor to Sydney. The food to me is average, though. There are some hits and misses. The food isn't the best there is in the city but it isn't bad either. The prices are also on the expensive side, especially for the serving size. A starter and a main would be a reasonable meal or else 3 main meals shared between 2 people. In most cases, food is served on disposable plates and bowls with bamboo cutlery. The venue is also cashless and there is a card transaction fee. Nevertheless, Spice Alley is a fun place to visit!
Everytime we go to Chippendale, we make it a point to visit Spice Alley. The assortment of food options is welcoming to our taste buds. Authentic dishes served by the merchants of this alley is happiness in itself. Although it is compact and narrow, it adds to the vibe of the place. Vegetarian options: Lots of choices for vegetarian dishes. Dietary restrictions: Various merchants offer dietary meal options. Parking: Very challenging to find a parking Kid-friendliness: Kids have a lot of food options but make sure they are watched over closely as it is a compact space and lots of people. Kids might get lost in the crowd. Wheelchair accessibility: Not at all accessible
