Story

Sofa Studio was established in 1992 as a boutique furniture studio conveniently situated in Crows Nest, Sydney. We have established a niche market of selling customised sofas and sofa beds, offering Sydney's largest sofa bed range alongside our contemporary modular and sofa range.

We specialise in ‘tailor-made' and use local manufacturers. As a result, we have minimal lead times (usually 2-4 weeks) and the flexibility to offer modifications where necessary.

Our experienced staff have extensive product knowledge and skilled in providing personalised decorating advice to our customers. They provide assistance with measurements, fabric choice and cushioning options.

Our sofas arrived today and we are thrilled. Our experience with Sofa Studio from start to finish has been outstanding. From our initial consultation with Colleen to our further discussions with Anthony we were impressed with their expertise and the depth of their knowledge. They understood what we were looking for and filled the "brief" perfectly. Their assistance with suitable styles and fabrics was invaluable. Our next purchase is a sofa bed and we will definitely be purchasing it at the Sofa Studio and enlisting their expert advice once again. A very happy customer who is delighted to recommend an Australian company with an excellent Australian product and Australian staff ! .
I've been working with Sofa Studio for over 6 years now to deliver quality custom made sofas, sofa beds and occasional chairs to my clients. I find the staff to be super helpful and friendly, the turnaround times are excellent and the quality of the pieces are very good. I've gone to them at times and asked for a custom piece that is nothing like they have in their showroom. They are able to draw it up, work with me around dimensions and fabrics and deliver a piece that my clients are always happy with.
My experience working with Sofa Studio has been very professional and reliable. The furniture is good quality and I really like the option to customize the pieces. They are flexible when choosing fabrics and changing sofa dimensions which is of great value. The service is fantastic!
We looked at a lot of sofas and found that Sofa Stuido had the best quality at a really good price. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Sofas are made in Australia and they said it would be delivered to us in 4 weeks...and true enough, the sofa was delivered to our door in exactly 4 weeks. We love the new sofa and would highly recommend Sofa Studio to other people.
I ordered 2 sofabeds from Sofa Studio for delivery to Hobart Tasmania. Anthony Meyer was a great help and provided a lot of help in selecting the right product for my needs. The sofas were manufactured and delivered within the promised timeframes. The sofabeds are great from its design to the comfort level provided. They have added a wow factor to the rooms in which they are located. Highly recommend Sofa Studio for their service and professionalism.
Everytime we did shopping with Sofa Studio we had 5 star experience. They have a quality product which is customizable, made in Australia, great customer service and professional delivery guys. I can truly recommend them as it was a pleasure doing business with them.
Our first encounter with Sofa Studio was great. Colleen served us and between her great service and the fact that they could custom make an Australian made sofa to suit our requirements was what made us return to Sofa Studio and place an order. When we returned to Sofa Studio to speak about the type of sofa we wanted to order we were served by Anthony the owner, as it was Colleens day off. We had a few questions with regards to how we wanted our sofa to look based on a previous conversation that we'd had with Colleen. Anthony said that he could help us and that he new exactly what we wanted and boasted about his experience in the industry and how he new more than Colleen. Two and a half weeks later we received our sofa and it was not only wrong, but not of very good quality either. The sofa had cardboard packers underneath each of the legs so that it would sit level!!! From here, it just all went down hill.... I won't go into too much detail as I'd be writing a 10 page essay, but from this point onwards we received terrible service by Anthony, but not by Colleen. It took them 9 days to finally come and pick up the sofa so that part of it could be remade. We received it about 1 week later, the sofa now no longer had cardboard packers under the legs due to us complaining directly to Jason at Charter Pacific who turned out to be the manufacturer of the actual sofa and not Sofa Studio interestingly enough, on our first encounter with Jason he was quick to give us his business card and told us to go directly to him in future if we wanted to purchase another sofa. After our second attempt taking delivery we now had a new problem with the sofa. My sofa is a corner one and it had to be made in two pieces, but it now had a 2cm gap where the two sofas met up!!!! So once again the sofa had to be repaired for the third time, more phone calls were made and more terrible service was given. I am so disappointed in my sofa! I wanted an Australian made good quality sofa and what I've ended up with is an over priced Chinese one. I am even more disappointed in the service. We were inconvenienced so much through out all of this having to keep my old sofa in my garage on standby every time and because of this having to park my car on the street, without ever getting an apology or some sort of compensation and all this was sorted just 2 days before Christmas. I really should have pushed for a refund and gone somewhere else!
We are over the moon with our new sofas - the workmanship and quality is fantastic. We have one sofa bed 4 years old and still in top shape,two amazing custom madelounges one so huge it had to be carried up several flights of stairs and some chairs. Anthony went out of his way to source our chosen top quality fabric and it all looks super professional, is most comfy and is top 'designer' standard !
Really disappointed. We purchased a sofa bed recently from Sofa Studio with additional fabric protection etc. Must admit the service to begin with was great however went downhill once the order was placed. We were meant to receive a fabric sample prior to giving the go-ahead as we were concerned that the colour had to be the same as the sofa on display. The sample was never sent despite chasing it up a few times the delivery date also changed after the order was placed. Each of the various staff we spoke with told us a totally different story. We were then told the sofa was already made and assured the colour was exactly the same as the floor model and we should just take delivery. The sofa arrived and it was significantly different to what we ordered, can only assume they thought we were too silly to notice the vastly different colour. They also managed to gouge the door frame during deliver then decided to remove the feet from the sofa so it would fit. Took a cushion from the new sofa to the store, manager agreed it wasn't even close to the correct colour and suggested refunding us the two scatter cushions we purchased from them as compensation. We just wanted the sofa in the colour we ordered, apparently this wasn't possible however to their credit they said they could remake it although we would need to choose a different type of fabric still not in the right colour. The other fabric options were not what we were after. We were so fed up and didn't want to end up with further damage to our house during another pick up and delivery so we reluctantly decided to just keep the sofa. The manager told us that as they were not needing to remake the sofa they would arrange a credit for compensation When the credit was processed it ended up being considerably less than the original suggestion of the price of the scatter cushions. We're living with a sofa that is not the right colour and not particularly comfortable so definitely not great value. The most annoying part is that we felt like we were treated as fools. It's a shame as we required several other pieces and had intended to use this store again if all went well. Would not recommend.
