As an associate professor familiar with how libraries usually operate I come to write a report. The designated ‘study area section’  is situated right next to the screaming kids section who are ignored by their parents while they catch up gossip with friends and drink coffeennI alerted staff and the female security guard as to the two children running end to end ofnthe library and screaming their brains banging on objects with no parent in sight. Staff made excuses while the security officer laughed then went and gossiped about my issue to other staff member giving me the eye, then busily went back to watching videos on her iPhone.nnI advised staff I sat at the opposite end of the library which was quieter than the ‘supposed study section ‘ Keeping in mind I wear sound proof headphones to concentrate yet could hear right through these just to make my point this is well above HSE Standards.nnI’m all for everybody learning in a peaceful and calm environment however Managers and funders need to come rectify this absolute  circus act and would be ashamed if I worked there of the behaviour in requesting an actual library environment.nnDr Barry

Fantastic services, book, magazines, community events, courses, computer and printer usage for the public.nThe staff as very polite and helpful.

I am extremely happy with Smithfield Library ... The Staff are so Professional , Obliging , Very Caring and Very Friendly ... Whenever I had a problem whatever it was the Staff were always willing to help me with a Smile on their Face . Helpful staff but it seems to have been taken over by a noisy crèche, youths hanging out watching video clips on their mobiles, and other children hogging the computers to play video games, while their carers sit gossiping in the comfy chairs. I think there are two little desks in the corner for people to sit and read quietly or, heaven forbid, study. Good luck with that!

I've never been there before doing a delivery there the other. But it looks like a nice library. And the lady at the counter was lovely.
