Came in just before closing time on a 37 degree day. Staff were super accomodating and set us up at an outdoor table. Food came out quickly- our sandwiches were delicious and the coffee was excellent. Staff were very friendly, welcoming & attentive. Will come back here again for sure!

It was the weekend of the lifted radius restriction and we decided to make the most of it. Sorrento is always a popular choice for peninsula locals and the like, I randomly selected SS and I'm glad I did. Service was excellent from start to finish, bubbly staff, excellent food and a smooth oat latte.
Pretty average. Firstly, girl at the counter wasn't welcoming at all. It doesn't take much to smile. Secondly, there was no option to have poached eggs - only fried which was pretty unhealthy. Thirdly, $16 for two eggs, two pieces of bacon and one piece of toast was a bit rich. My wife has smashed avo and was reasonably happy, although again, the eggs were fried unfortunately. Won't return.
We were making our way back home, from spending the week in Portsea, and decided to stop in for breakfast.. we had sour dough, bacon poached eggs mushrooms, coffee and an orange juice. Food was great and service was good..Food: 5/5
Friendly staff and service, food arrived punctually and in generous portions. Tried their mushroom toast, loved how thick and juicy they were. Fruit juice was nicely blended with just the right kick of ginger.

I had breakfast here and overall it was pretty good. The atmosphere is rustic inspired, but misses the mark on authenticity. There were a decent amount of breakfast options. I went with a big breakfast and found the portion size to be satisfactory. I would come back again. The prices are to be expected for the area, but at the upper end of what I'd expect. The big breakfast was $24.
I had a casual lunch here while visiting Sorrento. I ordered a bacon, egg and relish turkish from the cabinet and a coffee. I decided to eat it at one of the tables outside. Be sure to wear sunblock and a hat if you are eating there as most of the tables will be blasted by the sun on a hot day. Service was just okay, with a very short interaction of staff taking my order and delivering my food. No real pleasant exchange, but not a negative exchange too. Overall, Smashing is pretty basic. They make food and coffee well but don't come if you are expecting a "wow" factor.
