We take pride in our excellent service and unique range.We serve a diverse and global clientele with locally made-in-house hats, iconic Australian made Akubra, local designers and selected ethically produced imports. We can post anywhere in Australia or overseas.Our vast range includes hats of all shapes, sizes and fabrics. We stock gloves, scarves, cufflinks, ties, hat feathers and hat accessories. If we don’t have it, we’ll make it or try and find it for you."

scored an old Akubra Snowy River in an op shop and took it into Michael at Smart Alec Hatters where he cut, steamed, shaped and decorated my hat with care, and a good dose of story telling, into a magnificent new look. Quality old school service, advice, product and pricing. The perfect spot for time well spent. Pure Melbourne!
SMART Alec Hatters/Michael was the only person/business near Central Victoria who would trim down the brim on my Riverina. Michael did a brilliant job trimming the brim, making sure to double-check that the trim was clean and smooth, and that the hat still looked good overall. He was far too gracious regarding pricing, charging me very little when he really should have charged me more. Michael was more than welcoming throughout my visit and was well-versed in many topics of conversation e.g., the philosophical differences between Friends and Seinfield, the more interesting parts of English/Australian slang, and also the best way to raise a baby to be sufficiently Irish in modern-day Melbourne which I don't think you'd get anywhere else. The selection of hats he had in stock were also diverse and high-quality. It would defintely be worth a visit if you were looking to buy something new. Overall, I can't recommend SMART Alec Hatters more than enough.

Awesome hats beanies caps and much much more. Well stocked great displays and the staff are extremely knowledgeable, happy pleasant helpful. It's refreshing to be shown service with a smile. The design and quality are exceptional, the owner is very gentle and helpful, overall the shop is absolutely amazing!
Michael is a lovely personable fellow who has a brilliant knowledge of hats. On explaining my problems with cancer surgery on my head Michael suggested the perfect hat to cover scarring imperfections. Everyone loves my new hat. Donovan might have loved his shirt but I love my hat! Thank you Michael.
The lady looked at me with disgust when i asked if they had a product. The gentleman on the other hand intercepted and was very helpful. While he was helping me, I looked at the lady and she was staring at me disinterested like I shouldn't be there. Appalling and laughable. That's all I'm going to say.
