I'd been told good things about The Scullery, and they are all true! Lovely people working here, who made us feel welcome, beautiful decor and amazing food. We came for brunch - got a booking the day before with no problem. Decided we were having a cheat day on our dietary requirements, and went for a full breakfast. All the food was delicious. Great sausage from Hinchliffe's, bacon that was full of flavour and had some sweetness somehow. Very tasty black pudding, and even the hash brown had a great texture and flavour how do they do that with the unassuming has brown?. Stack of beautiful toast and French butter. Beans and mushrooms in little bowls. The eggs were just so perfect I could have wept, which isn't my normal response to food. I have to say it was a very special experience eating here; almost spiritual. Coffee was amazing - best I've had in a long time. We'll definitely be back soon if we can get a table! Parking: It's not far from the Cambridge Street car park, so if you have good mobility that's probably the best option. There is some parking on the street outside, but there's a hairdresser next door with people needing to park too. Double yellow lines on rest of road and permit holders only around the corner. Wheelchair accessibility: It's not particularly accessible, due to the age of building and layout. There's a couple of steps down to get in, so would be tricky for a wheelchair user. There is outside seating though, so this might be easier but perhaps not in winter! Once you get inside it's all reasonably flat. Toilets are in entrance area but I didn't use them so can't comment on access.
My partner and I were in some need of cheering up so decided to treat ourselves to some dinner at the Scullery. Sunday menu is excellent value for money, we had 3 courses and feel absolutely stuffed. Quality of the food was great and wait staff attentive. Shall look forward to coming another time.
My aunt and I discovered this place and liked it so much we came back the next night. The appetizers are especially good. She loved the fudge sundae!
Tucked away in the back streets of Huddersfield - what a surprise. Delightful outside and tastefully decorated inside, my photos don't do it justice. The staff were excellent, friendly, welcoming and very efficient. My friend and I had a two course Christmas lunch. Beautifully presented, not as good to eat. The roast potatoes weren't crispy, the sausage in the pig in blanket wasn't very nice and the stuffing was typically 'Paxo' but the greens, mash, turkey and gravy were lovely. The Christmas pudding also wasn't to my taste, huge lumps of fruit with nuts on the outer rim, quite nasty, my friend however enjoyed it. Just shows its all a matter of taste.
Visited with a friend for lunch on a sunny day. Very nice setting although, as you are very close to other tables, you can hear a lot of what is said. Very extensive menu. Good sized portions. Very pleasant team members. Clean toilets. Unfortunately the lamb burger was over cooked and crumbly. Overpriced for the quality but the setting is lovely. I wanted it to be something really special so I think it just didn’t meet my expectations considering the price and other reviews.
The indoor dining area was a tad warm for me so we asked if we could sit outside. No problem! I thought maybe they were down on a staff member or 2 but it didn't bother us. Taking time over eating and enjoying a drink is perfect. The waitress was lovely, polite, attentive. The main man came to take our food order and I jokingly said 'just feed us.2 starters, 2 mains and a bottle of wine!' He did exactly that and it was superb! Overall, we had a wonderful evening. 10/10 for me. Well done!
Visited with my aunt for lunch. Wow....everything was just perfect! We had booked ahead as knew this was a busy spot plus it was a Saturday lunchtime. Upon arrival we received a warm welcome and offered the choice to sit outside or inside, as it was a little overcast but still warm, we decided to sit outside. The menu itself had plenty of choice and caters well for all dietary requirements. We both ordered from the specials, I had the Whitby dressed crab and my aunt had the sea bass. They were absolutely to die for! The portion sizes were very generous, there was plenty of crab plus it came with a huge salad and a side of potato salad which was delicious and my aunts seabass was cooked to absolute perfection and came with sauteed potatoes and mangetout. We were both full from our mains and champagne so opted to finish with just a coffee each. All in all we had a fantastic time, the food was top notch and the service was second to none, the staff couldn't do any more for us! We will definitely be back again! Thanks!
A really good find in Huddersfield that I randomly stumbled across. Friendly staff and nice interiors. Good choice on the menu, and the food was very good. The portions are however huge: would suggest you scale back on the size of the portions a bit! Next time we go, I will not have a starter to leave space for pudding!
Was in the area yesterday and found this gorgeous place on Google. Treated my son and we both loved it. Fantastic service and food. Will definitely call by again next time I'm in the area. Can't rate this beautiful restaurant enough.
Went this evening for a family Sunday lunch. The staff were amazingly accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. We had my infirm grandma with us and my vegetarian mum who can be fussy. The setting was lovely and the all of the food fantastic. Seen to find it really difficult to find a decent Sunday lunch, when you cook your own often, but this place has nailed it! Cannot wait to visit again! Vegetarian options: Adapted to suit vegetarian.
