Great restaurant takeaway is excellent. Best Samosas and Pakoras anywhere. Freshly made to order no reheating on any of the food you order. Genuine Indian food made to your liking. Customer for more than 20 years. Friendly service and always happy except when the Australians win at cricket.
I thought I found my favourite Indian restaurant a few years ago, until I tried Sithara... it’s actually the most exquisite, diverse and delicious Indian food I’ve ever had. The staff and owner were so accommodating and helpful. Can’t recommend enough.
Wonderful modern Indian food under an innovative new chef. Sadly, recent fire has forced what we desperately hope is only a temporary closure. Becoming a very popular choice for Parkdale residents!
I love the food here. Best garlic naan I’ve ever had and honestly probably the best Indian I’ve ever had. I’m vego and the meals are always packed with lots of fresh veggies. And friends/family that are meat eaters always rave about how good the dishes are. Highly recommend.
The meal we had at Sithara was next level Indian food. The new owner took over just before the second covid lockdown June and is now emerging as a shining tribute to the sub-continent’s cuisine. I find it hard to remember when I last tasted dishes with such a variety of textures and flavours, with a satisfaction rating that was off the scale. Get there and sample the dishes before everyone hears about it and the queue gets longer.
The food is reasonable, the atmosphere is quite nice, but the service is poor. The last 2 times I went there neither time were they particularly busy we waited over 10 minutes just to get a menu, 10 minutes after deciding on our meals and putting the menus down, and over 40 minutes for the meals after we'd ordered. Both times we had to request the same drinks twice as they never arrived. The food is quite nice, but not exceptional. The pricing is ok, but not cheap. The menu in the window is their take-away menu... which is far cheaper than their eat in menu, so you could easily pay $20 more per sitting than you expect upon first entering. Overall, would avoid eating in there again, but would buy take away from them as they are a little nearer than the next shop.
Attended last night with 10 guests. No drinks ordered. Minimal size serves, dry rice, eg very tiny quantities of beef , 2cubes per person, bill was $430. Would never go back. Extremely dissatisfied with value for money! At $43 per head I would have expected a banquet! Nothing like the take away menu.
Best Indian food in south East Melbourne, we drive 3 suburbs to this amazing place anytime we have a hunger for this delicious cuisine which is often. Like other reviews, don't let the empty tables fool you, amazing food and amazing service.
