Anyone know what's going on? This wonderful old pub has been vacant and half-demolished for two years now, with NO sign of progress. We'll be really disappointed if this is more apartments by stealth!
This is what pubs used to be! Such a great place. Old school with history and great beer. Pubs these days are sterile, but not at the Willy Wally!! Stop by and see what I mean. Food is great too.
Just walked up to see the terrific Grateful Dad's....... standing in the small side bar with the missus and kids and the two charming harridans "serving" refuse to serve me as the main bar is busy. This despite my having clear line of sight into that bar and no one is waiting. Arrogant, complacent BS. After 20 years of occasionally supporting this boozer no more The last couple of dinners there average at best and this evening you've iced the cake. Well done girls. Avoid. The Oak and Dry Dock effortlessly superior.
Been here a couple of times and the food is alright. it's good for a couple of friends to head down to the pub, however later at night it becomes louder and more brawly... not too great for the kids. More of a casuals pub than a nice regular pub. wouldn't really go back again, unless for the food. cheap and delicious!
Great pub. Great music tonight Mal Estick and his band. A fabulous lady singing what a voice!...just eaten and the burgers are very very good. Wonderful night in Balmain.
A pub that is still original and has not be gutted. One of the last places still with Dart board and pool table. Good friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. Outstanding pub that should be on your list to visit.
Curious of the Scottish connection so exploring the hood I dropped by. Def a workong man's pub and though still not sure why the Scots it was only $6.50 a pint. Got to say though it's a dump, in a nice traditional way. Fill yur boots!!
Jugs of Carlton beer =$22. Very expensive compared to the Dry Dock pub down the road where a Coopers jug =$10. William Wallace main bar has seen better days and is fairly grim and unpleasant.
As my family comes from Balmain, I had always heard of these pubs off Darling Street, so I wanted to go and check them out for myself. I popped in to the William Wallace for lunch one day. The pub was an old victorian corner terrace, and the decor perhaps as old as that. I did however like the Balmain Tigers colour trim around the inside pilliars Although they had a small eating area out the back this was nothing more than a working mans local pub. I had steak and chips - again, nothing more than typical pub fare. If you were a local - by all means this is a comfy place for a coldie and some pub grub, however I wouldn't travel out of my way for the food.
Not to bad boozer more a trades bar Dose have Scottish stuff up on the wall Has food on the other side of the bar burgers and chips. Would like to see a haggis burger on the menu.
