We visited the planetarium in late July 2022. It is located next to the botanic gardens and you can cover both in the one day out. We saw the show ‘Destination: Universe’. It was very entertaining and a great way to spend about 50 minutes. Well worth a visit. Recommended.
A relatively small planetarium but great for visiting and spending a quick hour when nearby. There were a few small models won display alongside plenty of information board about our solar system and beyond. Aboriginal interpretations also shared within which were great, and planetarium talks were scheduled on certain days. Parking is challenging during peak times, as it’s located right next to the botanical gardens.
This was a great experience. My family enjoyed the worlds beyond this world. We where able to see different planets and their moons and see how life could inhabit that place. Would definitely recommend for family’s as it is a great experience for everyone to enjoy.
It was a nice stop off on the way to Mt. Cootha Lookout. Lots of information, great learning experience. Free to go in but shows require admission. Also the beautiful Botanic Gardens are next door as well. Parking available, busy on school holidays
Visited over the weekend with small children. Fantastic displays, albeit they were mostly replicas. Kids shows available in the morning, we attended one - certainly kept the kids entertained. Staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Free entry to come check out, a small shop and shows cost money to attend.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the planetarium. The Astronomy Live show was very informative and affordable. Entry is free to the exhibit and the shows cost $12 for adults and $8 for kids. There is a variety of shows that can be booked at the counter.
We had a wonderful experience attending the event "Travel through time". Kids loved the exhibit's and got more curious about space. I only wished there were few more stem related activities for kids that they could do..more in lines of Questacon in Canberra but it's ok. The staff is extremely helpful and they are doing an amazing job enthusiastically helping answer questions. Definitely one to go when you are visiting Brisbane. Also we can visit Botanical Garden and drive to the Mount Cootha summit lookout at the same time.
Less than 5 stars only because I’ve been to more interactive and more artefacts museums in other countries. Located in vicinity of Mt Coot-ha Botanic Gardens so can visit both and get up to a full day trip! What you get / Pricing: + FREE entry with good history of Brisbane’s astronomy including Sir Brisbane’s influence, balanced view of Russia & China & US contributions to space technology, overview of Big Bang to Milky Way to solar system to Earth’s atmosphere and life, some models and artefacts. These are placed on outer circumference, can be completed in 1h or so. + Paid interactive shows are targeted at kids, probably advisable to purchase tickets in advance thou went I went in winter there were still tickets available at counter. Free seating. Crowd: - Tourists and locals, can get full pretty quick especially when crowds are queuing for entrance to the interactive show. - Parking is often full especially on weekends, can try to park in vicinity and take a walk some parts may be hilly.
Attended Saturday 06/08 for Cosmic Collisions show. Staff super helpful at the desk and ensuring those with special needs felt comfortable during the show. Jesse was outstanding - you could see the excitement and interest on the kids' faces as he described some of the displays in the foyer prior. During the show - Jesse also provided outstanding commentary on the night sky section, engaging people so much that he received a round of applause at the end! Best experience to date. Congrats to all the staff ....and thank you!
Our family has been there twice for their amazing entertaining and informative shows. We also enjoyed the displays and Jesse the meteorite guru at the 'Ask an Astronomer' stand.... great combination with a walk and picnic on the gorgeous botanical Gardens
