Had a massive craving for Singaporean/Malaysian laksa. Read some reviews of this place which was a mixed bag but they tended to suggest that their laksa was at least decent. So I ventured to Northbridge and ordered a bowl of chicken laksa with mixed hokkien and vermicelli noodles @ $18.00. Price is so so. In terms of taste and quality:- - the broth lacks depth - the chicken was really dry - the mixture of both noodles was too heavy handed with Hokkien noodles with only two mouthfuls of vermicelli which was disappointing - The Hokkien noodles didn’t taste overly fresh Overall, it was a let down. There are far better options in Willoughby and Chatswood.
Ordered a beef curry on Uber Eats. $19.50 for a handful of thinly sliced beef in a thin brown gravy tasting sauce. This was definitely not a curry and as far as value for money, zero stars and would never order again from this restaurant. A place that advertises itself as serving Singaporean food should be ashamed serving food like this. SHAME ON YOU!
The laksa combination meats or chicken is my favourite. The Singapore hokkien mee is another great choice too.
had a $60+ order on uber eats, with Chicken Curry + Rice, Laksa + Extra Noodles, and Sweet & Sour Pork a "Main" on the menu Portion sizes are pretty small - the Laksa was great it's a laksa house so that's good, but the Sweet & Sour Pork was **tiny** see photos Sarah and I were pretty disappointed
After 3 years i found them again!! Still one of the best laksa's I've ever had in Sydney. It won't be this long again i can promise you. Worth the trip from anywhere in town!
I was very sad when Sam closed his Crows Nest restaurant several years ago, and was thrilled to find them now in Northbridge with the same menu and same delicious Laksa - in my humble opinion it’s Sydney’s best! The tomato rice with fried chicken is pretty amazing too :-
If I could give minus 5 stars I would For this restaurant and it’s shocking so called food. Spent close to $100.00 for dinner that was supposed to feed two normal sized adults but got the following: 1/4 of a standard sized roti 1 tiny small drumstick in the Haianaese Chicken so called Main Meal 1/2 cup of rice 1cup MSG laden soup 1/2 serving of soggy vegetables Salt and Pepper Prawns/Squid Main Meal which was cold and tasted like shredded cardboard. If you want minimal, cold, repurposed, reheated, food tasting like cardboard be prepared to pay a premium amount for little or no food. This restaurant is extremely disappointing!!! Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere but not here!!!!!!
Great range of delicious Malaysian & Asian cuisine. Noodles, rice & roti. Sam will cater to individual needs as far as chilli heat & other likes & dislikes. Great Husband & Wife team There are many dishes to choose from: Laksa, Char Kway Teow, Chicken Rice, Beef Rendang, Nasi Lemak and the list goes on ..
Yesh finally Sam's back! After a hiatus of a year, Sam, whose shop at crows nest, delighted patrons for more than a decade or 2, has moved to our old sleepy burb of nthbrdg where the 'celebrity' chef, Billy's shop was previously. Spore hokkien mee, sam's own version, which has stood the test of time and one of my firm favourites. No it is not quite authentic as it lacks the prawn shell broth, pork lard, pork slices, etc etc, sam's ver is more akin to 'spore noodles' w a twist. Let sam know how mild or spicy you want it. Comes generously sprinkled w mini prawns n squid. Forget the normal char kwee diao which is available in the menu. Go for the penang ckt, again sam's interpretation minus the clams. Nasi goreng w bbq pork or any meat of your choice is another fav of mine. Let's not forget the har mee prawn noodle soup while you are there. What i do steer away from is the laksa sorry sam. I am never quite taken by the broth, which comes across as too 'coconuty' and lacks the prawn 'punch'. Everything else on the menu is worth trying though.
Had less than 10 mins to get a bus and they hooked me up with some great fried rice in 5 minutes, highly recommend
