Good location, nice food, quick service. Had dinner at Simply Tops when staying overnight in Townsville. Pleasant atmosphere & fresh seafood, just what we wanted plus a cold beer.
Fresh Fish & Seafood everytime! The Calamari Strips & Prawn Cutlets are our favourites! They are definitely busy on the weekends, make sure to go in and order early. Happy with the portions.
So this place is NOT a restaurant! It’s a glorified corner fish & chip shop with not very helpful staff, the world’s smallest glasses of wine and a seafood platter for 4 that left me starving. There was only 3 of us. Menu says 4 Morton Bay bugs we got 3 - apparently they were big bugs so we got 1 less. But then didn’t compensate for the 2 extremely small oysters. Yes we devoured it, yes it tasted fresh, but won’t be back.
Had the fish burger with crumbed mackerel which was delicious and quite filling. With friendly hard working staff and a hood menu, it's well worth dropping in for a bite.Food: 5/5
Great food, laid back atmosphere, extra bonus is it's licenced Went to Simply Tops recently again with a group of 40 + friends. The owner and staff effortlessly catered for the buffet, drink service was instant without waits, clearing of tables after dinner was finished great. Best calamari, prawns, fish and chips, Greek salad, leafy lettuce and citrus salad Delicious. Well done Simply Tops
If you love fish and chips like I do, you'll like the food here. I was a little disappointed with the fish; a little overdone for my taste. The chips were hot and crispy moist; ideal. Not a big selection of condiments. Tartar wasn't available or it wasn't pointed out to me. The service was friendly enough but needed a little cheerfulness too. It's in a handy location, near all the other eating houses. The outdoor dining is perfect for Townsville's climate.
I ordered a fish sandwich .bread was so stale it felt like toast .I had to thrown the bread away. The fish was so small it didn't even cover half the sandwich .ask for tartar sauce ....I actually could not find the sauce anywhere in the sandwich. Ordered a small chips and they came in a container half the size of the actual container on display....to say I felt ripped off is an understatement. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN SHOULD ANYONE GO THERE ......ASHAMED IF TOURISTS GO THERE ....
Greek salad doesn't have olives, wrong type of onion, let alone the yellow shiz possibly the brine from the fetta pooler on the bottom and the cucumber has shrivelled up. Paid $12 for Snapper which is reasonable but not when I get a tiny slither of it.
Fresh seafood, beautifully, cooked and crumbed, best fish I've ever tasted battered, not oily perfect! So delicious, staff very helpful and friendly Vegetarian options: Really nice Greek cheese salad, all vegetables fresh and crunchy, tasty salad dressing
Food was alright, it's good value but I mainly mark this place down for how rude they were. We sat just after 7 as did many other diners and it was a nice Friday evening until they started noisely packing away the tables around us by throwing chairs ontop of eachother and dragging them inside, there was nothing peaceful about our meal and we felt very unwelcome. Obviously they wanted us out right away. Another diner actually told the owner how rude it was, and her response was repeatedly telling him they close at 8. Which is fair, but don't serve people right up till 8 if you want them out then too! We left abruptly as we felt awkward sitting on one of a few tables left in such an empty space. We have visited this place a few times when passing through Townsville but I would probably never spend a penny here again after our custom feeling completely undervalued by them.
