I stayed at Sierra Motel after visiting Mount Cook and doing a full day of hiking, en route to Wanaka. I was looking for a comfortable stopover after a long day, and this place was perfect. The room was very clean, the shower was amazing, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The place had all the amenities I could ask for, including milk, tea and coffee-making facilities, shower gel, and more. A lot of thought, care, and attention has clearly gone into providing a great guest experience. There’s great food just a 5-minute walk away at Boots and Jandals, and it was a lovely bonus to relax at the Omarama Hot Tubs complex right across the road. Highly recommended for a restful and convenient stay.
A motel? That conjures up a dingy room on a busy highway but Sierra’s freshly redone rooms were far from dingy. Well appointed, an in room laundry, very comfy bed and comfortable furniture. Kind of uninspiring lookng from the outside but it was very good. If I am ever this way again, I will definitely stay here. Well located for dinner The Last Post and breakfast The Wrinkly Rams
The rooms are excellent: very spacious, clean, and well equipped including a washing machine and are continuously being renovated. We stayed in a five-year-old apartment that looked like new. The staff is very friendly and committed. We can recommend this accommodation 100%.
Great choice if you are priced out of Lake Tekapo but still want to stay in the area. I was impressed with how nice the rooms was. We had stayed in 4 other motels on our drive down and this was the nicest. The wrinkly ram next door is a nice breakfast place, and we had a nice dinner at the Omarama Lodge.
Motels are not my thing but sometimes needs must. As far as Sierra Motel goes it’s clean, bedding and towels are nice, rooms are spacious and have kitchens, there are laundry facilities and it’s a good stop over on the A2O.nOnly complaint would be the overhead shower only, no handheld.
