On the evening I visited this restaurant the crowd was a mixture of locals and Chinese, a clear indication that the Dutch are getting familiar and liking Sichuan cuisine! I've seen this trend in Rotterdam too. Although I'm an ethnic Hakka and our cuisine tends to be mild and sweet, I absolutely am hooked on Sichuan food and this restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam's Chinatown does not disappoint. The menu is extensive and exciting, and you may need some time to peruse the thick menu with lovely photos!. The fried spareribs were crispy and juicy and the dipping sauce hot and sour. The Chengdu duck was phenomenal. My dinner came to €30 including a pot of excellent jasmine tea. Definitely excellent value for money. In spite of the crowd the service was excellent and super friendly. Highly recommended! PS: there are two other locations of China Sichuan in the city and I'll definitely visit them soon.
We were here years ago - not much has changed. Traditional Sichuan cuisine - not the best in Amsterdam, but still very tasty. Service could certainly be improved - but it’s okay. You should probably only come to eat from 1 p.m. and not at 12:30 p.m. as Google says - haha.
If it was only for the food I would’ve give 5 stars. However there were some *huge* problems with the restaurant: the pages of the menu were disgusting; there was sauce splashed on the walls next to the table; too many flies flying around; blocks of dust near the windows; no desserts… It’s a pity because the food and decor are very nice.
Place was quite crowded and I can see why. Probably one of the biggest restaurant menus I have ever seen, lots of options, all great looking. The food was delicious and portions extremely generous. Good service as well
More than 100 ml of oil in our noodles. I couldn't see any taste otherthan oil. Its 18€ or so, mediocre quality and definitely no taste or flavour. Out of 5 dishes we got, only one is okay And the dumplings are bland and tasteless. Waste of 121 euros. Only Heineken pint is good,nothing else
The food was good, the staff was polite. They asked if I want my order with rice as a side dish, I said yes but then the food came without. I didn't insisted, was delicious anyway.
Super delicious! The Best food what I Have eaten in Amsterdam, suitable design of the interior, nice staff, and a lot of People, what is a sign about very good food. Food was really delicious, like a Discovery, explosion of the flavorous, textures and colours. Everything was perfectly spiced. And because of you I felt in love with sichuan cuisine...
Authentic Chinese Sichuan food spicy and fast service! Can be busy so good idea to make a reservation.
Poor service quality… Please hire more servers. We asked 3times just to get chopsticks. Rice is served 20min after main dishes.. Other than this, Sichuan food was delicious.
Place to taste the Sichuan dishes. Spicy beef with tofu is authentic enough, with huge quantity. We two girls didn’t manage to finish two dishes. The vegetables are just ok. All in all a nice Chinese restaurant for friends to eat together every now and then.
