Really tasty food, excellent dessert, satisfactory coffee, prices that will make you wince. I’ve added this to my weekly rotation for the convenience and deliciousness but going to be conscious about not going too often. The Green Goblin is super tasty and feels very healthy. I lucked out with the patty melt special last time, and was very happy with it. I do wish they had more wraps on the menu still. You can do under $20/person but it pushes you over if you get drinks and dessert. And who wouldn’t get dessert?
Chicken shawarma was fantastic. Good amount of sauce, has thick cut chips included inside and wrapped in fresh soft bread. The wrap was $16 and was such a large portion I couldn’t finish it which rarely happens. Chips were very crispy and had some unique seasoning. Ordered 20mins before closing at 10pm and was worried we would get turned away but the staff were super friendly and served us quickly. A few small tables and chairs outside on the sidewalk and a bench indoors for you to eat at.
NGL the patty melt was freaking delicious. A little on the pricey side at $20 but that's life these days with every single cost increasing. It'll just take us time to get our heads around itFood: 5/5
Love it. Came just before lunch so had to order from the breakfast menu - had the ham cheese pickle $15. Pretty pricey as the serving size was relatively small. Rolls were really fresh, generous amount of ham. Love the combination especially with the mustard - expected something simple but turned out pretty darn good. Perhaps the Egg and Cheese Muffin should be called something else - thought it was going to come with an English muffin like how it’s served at LP’s but turned out, it was like a sando - pretty bummed as it looked amazing. Will be back for that.
I don’t know if they still serve shawarma any more but the sandwiches they make are really good. I’ve tried the gravy chicken roll and the melt patty. The melt patty would be highly recommended - juicy patty, melted cheese, pickles, mustard and barbecue sauce.
The Patty Melt caught my eye on social media so had to check it out. Pretty tasty but I’ve got some high standards when it comes to delicious sandwiches. Would go again to try the chicken and gravy roll.
It’s a shame they dropped the Shwarmama concept because the new offering ain’t it. Had the chicken roll, which was drenched in mayonnaise, and I was destined to feel awful after. Won’t be returning.
Shwarmama This is an all day shawarma and falafel store in Surry Hills that is a modern take on an old school kebab joint. This little hole in the wall store is primarily takeaway, though you can eat at a few stools out front. We like the red and white decor and being able to see the rotisserie lamb or chicken turning behind the counter A short menu where can order a pita with spice-marinated chicken or lamb kofte, spiced schnitzel, topped with garlic sauce, pickle and cabbage. There’s also plates and bowls as well as sides like fire or herb-packed falafel, fried to order. We ordered the Israeli favourite and staple, the sabich - a pita filled with fried eggplant , boiled egg & hummus, cabbage, onions, tahini and pickles. The bread is nice and soft and the filling flavoursome and a downright tasty meal. They’ve got some fairly large cookies; salted choc chip or double choc too if you need some sweets!
Mama's Boy formerly Shwarmama my favorite kebab shop has completely changed, the only thing the same is the location and the mama in the title. They are doing killer old-school rotisserie chicken and gravy rolls made with a potato roll, iceberg lettuce, gravy, and lots and lots of aioli.Food: 5/5
This is REAL Israeli shawarma at it's absolute finest. I've been around the world, as well as to Israel several times and the shawarma at this place is truly world class. Definitely the best in Australia, no other place on this continent even comes close. Absolutely incredible for real. Go there. Give thanks. And eat in good health.
