Solid. The staff was very attentive and we felt they were genuinely happy we were there. Every dish we ordered was good, with the special scallop fried rice being the standout. We were happy with our experience overall and I’m very thankful that the staff put up with my poor Chinese. :,
Sweet memories from forty years ago when I was a kid. Used to go here every second weekend as a kid, with the food being nothing short of superb. Fast forward to 2022 and Shark Fin Inn still stands and still serves up outstanding fare. I was with my 10 year old daughter this time and took her out to dinner here, having told her about the beautiful memories I had of the restaurant. Can honestly say things hadn’t changed. The service was just outstanding and the food just mouthwatering. Between us we had the entree of chicken skewers, for mains the Mongolian lamp oh yeah baby, lemon chicken so so good and steamed rice. To see a 10 year old kid fall in love with the smells and taste was so satisfying. The owner of the restaurant was there and was so accommodating and pleased to hear that 40 years on I brought my daughter. You do have plenty of Chinese restaurant options in Melbourne but give this one a try first. You won’t be disappointed. Excellent service, delicious food and competitive prices. Thankyou to everyone at Shark Fin Inn.
Cosy restaurant with the most attentive and friendly staff I have ever encountered during yum cha, and would regularly check in on our table. Came here on impulse after getting a friend recommendation, got a table right away despite not booking ahead, and did not regret as their yum cha were among the best we had in Melb, absolutely love their steamed delicacies most!
Highly recommended the scallop and prawn dish as well the shark fin soup. It’s crispy on the outside with the scallop while chewy on the inside with prawn paste. Really delicious meal!!
Pretty disappointing yum cha. Food didn't taste good or fresh. The chives fish cake tasted like it was going bad, the salted egg buns felt stale, the har gow crumbled upon picking up with chopsticks, and the cheong fun felt dense, among others. Service was rather slow too. Would not recommend.
Wonderful dimsum at Shark Fin Inn at Melbourne, where they offer a huge variety of dimsums. Met and chatted with the owner Mr Chen, , who has been running the restaurant for more than 40 years. Yet so, he is extremely humble and friendly Every dish was done very well, and the service was excellent. Great service. Ordered lobster at AUD 196/kg plus AUD 16 to cook with egg noodles. Taste great. The lobster is very plump and meaty. Flesh are thick and sweet. A lot a lot of meat. Strongly recommended.
Great place to eat seafood! We ordered one lobster for two persons, and that lobster was LARGE!! Staff is also very kind. We’ll be there again.
The food tastes so good and fresh here with super friendly staff. Bbq pork pastry buns are Highly recommended.
Quite good yum cha. Rice noodle roll is one of the best. So is the prawn toast. It’s crispy and fresh. Unfortunately, chicken feet not so good as Secret Kitchen. Manager Jack is really nice.
