Based on our experience via booking with TheFork Festival, it was the worst out of all the other restaurants we've been. Firstly we were told we only had 15min to place our order, and anything ordered after that will be charged at full price. The portions of the dishes were so small, we weren't full and wanted to try more but checked with the waitress and she said us any dishes ordered now won't be discounted, so we decided not to. Assuming dessert is something you order after the mains and that'll be an exception to this time-of-order rule, but they still wouldn't honour the TheFork discount, very disappointed. Food wise, the Ala Parilla meat platter was good, so was the calamari. Paella was super small, not the best. Perhaps better suited as a bar, food is expensive for the portions you get. Service was average.
Love the place. The patatas bravas are delicious. Loved the paella, but I don't give 5 stars because the rice was sticky and stuck to the bottom of the casserole. Sorry if you are vegetarian/vegan, go for the 2 tapas only... Don't forget to order Sangria, yummy'
Great croquettes, well cook steak, my daughter love the churros. Enough portion for tapas eatary. Great service, accomodating. Thanks guys
Absolutely delicious food and great service. Have been driving past for months but could never pick a day to come try but it was worth it. A great menu - very difficult to choose what to have! I am sure we will be back to try something else
Well designed decor for party and gathering, and the presentation of food is excellent. The taste of our dishes are above average, however, the balance of flavor of different ingredients can be improved, especially for the paella. Service seems inconsistent, while one waitress is very friendly and helpful, the other looks disinterested and a little bit rude. Waiting period is long, considering there are not much guests ordering food at lunch time. Overall, although the outside of this restaurant environment and decor is excellent, there is still space for improvement in food and service which makes a restaurant truly outstanding.
So yummy! Must try if you love spanish foods.
wow... what a huge disappointment! I have never written a bad review before but this has to be done. I took my boyfriend who has lived in Spain for 7 years and he wanted to leave after the entrees which were minuscule to say the least... then the Spanish meat platter for 2 apparently? would not serve even 1 as a main and the Spanish sardines which were an extra cost to the meat platter were served in the can! what a joke... we soon realized we needed to order extra food so went for the Paella which was also tiny and was in fact risotto not paella... the sangria was watered down red wine with some oranges and spices not nice at all... we left $160 dollars poorer... and that was with the sardines removed from the cost as we had complained...what a joke! If you love Spanish food, do not go to this place !!!
Absolutely loved this place! Can't believe I've lived near it for so long & never visited. We loved the decor & the service was amazing, staff were personable, kind, really helpful/knowledgeable. We said to each other "I hope the food is as good as the service!" The chicken was cooked PERFECTLY, the flavours on everything were so delicious, you just HAVE to try the desserts the were melt-in-your mouth amazing try the Crema Catalana!!!!. Oh and they have a gas fireplace! Will have to get a seat next to that one day.
Tried for the first time with the 50% off food offer thru the fork. Food was very tasty. Service with a smile. Tapas was delicious. Mains were a tad smallish but if you have tapas first as entre it was plenty. Received complimentary dessert as the chef overcooked our steak and we had to wait a little for another one to be cooked. Will return as we enjoyed our dinner.
Fabulous food and service. Boca Chica is more than a "bar", it has restaurant quality food whilst maintaining a casual atmosphere. Primarily a tapas bar, Boca Chica also offers a limited main menu of steaks and paella. The tapas experience in Australia can vary quite a bit but this is high end tapas - quality ingredients treated with respect. There are also platters for nibbles over drinks and banquet options as well as mid week specials. Dessert is also on offer and the dishes we tried were sublime and good value when compared to restaurants in the city. The wait staff are great and very knowledgeable about the food and ingredients. Boca Chica is housed in an old building so there are various rooms set up with tables catering for couples to groups with a lovely alfresco area at the front. The walls are decorated with an eclectic mix of photographs from Spain and vintage mirrors and there's a wall of old record covers as well. Spanish music plays throughout our time there which was nice, but it would be lovely to have live music there.
