Went on a Sunday mid-morning so parking was easy at $2 per hour. The auditorium was easy to locate. Stairs and elevator to first floor. Book online or at box office. State Shakespeare Carnival competition for high schools was good fun especially as my school came second in their division.
An excellent theatre centre! They've got the typical food, drinks, and bar station out the front, and it's a surprisingly sizeable theatre. We had a really great time watching Parade!! The actors were stellar and so enthusiastic!
A great place to see theatre and live performances at affordable prices.nPart of the University of Sydney, it’s located on a campus within walking distance of Redfern Station just one station from Central.nCheck out their website to see what’s on and subscribe to their newsletter for updates and special offers.nTwo larger theatres located at foyer level or above. A smaller theatre is located downstairs.nA bar operates and a food truck outside for some performances.
We first saw Branch Nebula’s show, Air Time, in April 2023 at the Wollongong Town Hall. Last night a slicker version of it debuted at the Seymour Centre as part of Sydney Festival. It’s an airborne ballet that features a roller-skater Tia Pitman, a skateboarder Austin Gray and a BMX Xavier Gilbee as the main cast. Set on a pair of ramps it unpicks these art forms from just the big tricks to show the playfulness, the falls, and the moments in between all the air time.nnThe street art performers, which also includes a parkour artist, Alejandro Scarone, are joined by a pair of dancers. The dancers mimic the motions of the street art performers, and interact with their equipment to emphasise that it is an aerial ballet you are watching. With a Palestinian performer, Feras Shaheen, in the cast, I appreciated the way the show included recognition of the genocide currently taking place in Palestine.nnThe upstairs Everest Theatre is big enough to hold this show. Unfortunately we were seated in row B with terrible sight lines. These seats should not have been occupied. Luckily it wasn’t sold out and we were able to move. Bar needs a better wine list.
Level entrance and lifts to get to the performance areas food and drinks available, male toilets are red glass and reflective ! Bit off putting… but clean and staff are nice, parking on street can be a bit tight, think there is a parking station, close to Sydney Uni and Newton bus on city road, Broadway and Cleveland st
