Always love a yum cha place with the dim sum trolley like the traditional way. I personally think that the city branch taste better, as there were a few hit and misses here. However, the fried squid tentacles and steamed “” brown sugar sponge cake were amazing here! And they even served “” CNY sweet rice cake here! How nostalgic
This was hands down the best yum cha I’ve ever had in MelbournennMake sure you call ahead to reserve, especially on weekends, as seats are very limited. Yum cha is served in a large hall. You queue outside and are let in in batches — our session started at 1:30 pm.nnAll dishes come around on trolleys, so there’s no ordering from a menu. The selection is fairly wide, mostly classic yum cha items done very well.nHighlights:nBean curd rolls : 5/5 – Highly recommended. I love soy-based dishes, and the filling was very generous and flavourful.nnSteamed pork ribs with black bean sauce : 4/5. There was a whole piece of taro underneath — such a pleasant surprise and absolutely delicious.nn: 6/5. Extremely fluffy and incredibly tasty. The only downside is the portion size — quite small for $8.50 .nnRice noodle rolls : 5/5. The wrapper was super thin and silky, with very large prawns inside.nI’ve seen many reviews complaining about poor service, but my first experience was excellent. The staff spoke both Cantonese and Mandarin, and no one seemed impatient at all.nnMy only advice is to eat slowly — everything looks tempting, and before you know it, the bill adds up quickly.nnApart from being pricey, there’s really nothing to complain about.
Had yum cha here which was nice. Booked the 13:30 session so it was good to see two queues for a pre booked and a walk up.nnFood was tasty and came around frequently so a lot of choices and variety. Staff were accommodating and lovely to deal with. Would definitely come back for yum cha here.
Never tried the dim sum but always go back for the dishes and stews. The seafood pot and shredded chicken is always flavourful and done well. The new manager David Cheung is wonderful and has a pleasant manner. Very polite and sociable. Even treated us to two desserts. Service is really good.nnEdit: The lobster was really good too, the meat was succulent and not too chewy. David also treated us to new mango desserts: . It was very fresh and refreshing. We recently had the pleasure of dining at Secret Kitchen in Westfield Doncaster and were thoroughly impressed. While the entire team was professional, the service provided by the manager, David, was truly exceptional and elevated our entire evening. From the moment we walked in, he offered a welcoming and personal touch. David not only ensured our table was looked after seamlessly but also made an excellent dish recommendation. Equally impressive was the food. Every dish was flavourful and felt incredibly authentic, particularly, the shredded chicken was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Overall, Secret Kitchen in Westfield Doncaster is a must-visit for anyone seeking an amazing Chinese dining experience. The combination of genuinely exceptional service, spearheaded by the dedicated Manager, David, and the delicious, high-quality food makes it stand out. We will certainly be returning soon! Highly recommended.
