Came here for yumcha and was seated near the entrance. Cart rotation is quite slow but not sure if it's because we are at the corner of the restaurant. Food was mostly average but not much other choice if you want to yumcha in the mall. The place is pretty spacious with some private rooms too. Booking highly recommended as it gets busy. Food - 5 Service - 5 Vibe - 5 Price - $$$
The food is great but I cannot understand why none of Yum Cha restaurants provide good service. Everyone who work there seems like they were unhappy and grumpy. Don’t they realise they work in hospitality industry? Maybe they prefer a lockdown??? Who am I kidding, they won’t care. Always busy and full, they don’t care about a measly review in Google. If you like a fantastic food, yeah absolutely just don’t expect a good service.
Food is not delicious as before covid . and the service are very bad , we just walk in without the appointment , the Manager told me we have to finished by 11:15am , which we are Feel we need to rush to eat , nevertheless the waitress was so inpatient while we decided what we going to choose but she showed her attitude to us which we feel like we are not welcoming . The waitress keeps pushing the trolly keep asking you want anything by repeating ! We just had the food on the table in 5 mins ! Looks like they try to push sale on their trolley . End up we able finish at 11:10. I can see still many empty tables available and no reserve in place . I will not coming back and not reckon to anyone ! And there no one is waiting outside at all ! The price is expensive now .
- Siu Mai - Prawn Dumplings - Roast Pork Bun - Chicken Feet - Beef Tendon - Beef Tripe - Steamed Pork Ribs - Rice Rolls with Chinese Donuts and Veggies - Roast Pork Puff Pastry - Egg Tarts - Steamed Cake - Century Egg and Pork Congee - Fried Sesame Ball My go-to yum cha place in Melbourne. Can be inconsistent sometimes but I think quality wise is pretty good! Lovely ambience and very comfortable sitting.
Happy dining experience. I came here for Yum-cha without booking during rush hour. We're seated by the Manager on duty. Ordered Ifu-mee seafood and various Yum-cha. Be prepared to know what to order in advance or be rushed during order time. Service could have been better but expected such service during peak hours. The staff were attentive and explained the Yum-cha. You need to order separately for non Yum-cha meals. The price is a bit premium. Overall we were pleased with the meals and we enjoyed the food.
Straight forward phone booking process, got a table by the window with city views but the trolleys took longer to get to us. Very busy on Saturday mornings but food made up for it. Durian pastry and spare ribs must try! Parking: Get four hours free parking with Westfield Plus app membership
Had dinner at the Secret kitchen after the movies at Village. The food was tasty. We ordered the Szechuan Chicken, lemon chicken snd duck wrap along with the Special fried rice. The meal was good, nothing special. But it was expensive for the quality. I found the secret kitchen in Glen Waverley better value.
Usually pretty packed during weekend yumcha sessions and requires booking. However we did manage to get a seat due to no-shows. Yum cha is not too bad, but not the best in Melbourne. Service was efficient but some lapses is evident. Had ordered a yumcha dish which never arrived. Otherwise good rotation of yumcha trolleys going around.
Yum cha used to be a staple of weekend lunch time diners all through the 90s and early 2000's, back then we were blessed with a huge selection of restaurants to indulge in. Lately we have seen a new age of Cantonese cuisine throughout Melbourne. Secret Kitchen is admittedly on the pricier side, but Yum Cha should always be a meal shared with many so the selection of Dim Sum can be wide and varied. There are both the classics like Har Gow and Siu Mai, but there are also some modern takes on other things like Char Siu Bao. Make sure you book as it is almost always booked out during weekends, worth a go to fight those yum cha cravings!
Disgusting lunch experience... about to finish our meal and I found this worm in my bowl... The manager and the owner was so RUDE, they don’t care what that was and their explanation is the worm proves their ingredients to be chemical free... when our lunch got ruined we kindly ask the restaurant to cancel this dish, the manager called the owner, he said:” we can’t cancel it, we can exchange the course however you must pay for it.” When you charge over 35 dollars for a bowl of simply fried veggies, there’s at least one thing you can do— clean and wash your ingredients! What a disgrace to the customer service, the hygiene of the restaurant and public health, guess you can’t really visit the restaurant again when they don’t even care! Disappointed, disgusting, absolutely AVOID.
