One of the few restaurants that I would consider a real "hidden gem". This unassuming eatery, located on the corner of Waverly Road, offers a level of Japanese cuisine that I've rarely seen in the suburbs. Dishes are fresh, seasonal and most importantly, delicious. I highly recommend the Seared Pepper Tuna Special if available. Looking forward to my next visit.
Easily our most favorite Japanese place . Food is always wonderfully fresh and tasty and owners Des and Chiemi are always so friendly. And when you can get them, their desserts including their brulee and Japanese cheesecake are delicious Food: 5/5
Been going there over 12 years...same chef...Great tasty food. 2-3 tables only, best located for takeaway. Very busy, be prepared to wait 20-30 mins for pick up!Food: 4/5
Small cosy family run Japanese eatery with decent food. Kitchen and seating area are basically rolled up into one. Poor exhaust meant you'll smell like what the chefs are cooking that night after you visit.Food: 3/5
I’ve been to Satsuki a number of times and this was the second time I’d ordered the beef bento as a takeaway. The first time I had it, it was a bit too salty but thought that might’ve been an off day in view of other good food here. But today the beef was inedibly salty and a lot of it had shrivelled away.. left too long to marinate perhaps? I would give 3 stars for this incident alone but giving it 4 as other times dining in have been great. I won’t order this bento again but I’ll probably return to dine in.
Had takeaway of prawn gyoza, takoyaki, soft shell crab salad and yakiniku. Food was 10/10 but the gyoza we got was wrongly labelled as we received i think chicken? gyozas instead. Not an issue for us although I'm not sure if there was a slight price difference. However, would not complain as food was still tasty and were in great portions. Very friendly service too. Oh, and thanks for the free rice! Definitely recommended.
This place is a local hidden treasure. The food is delicious and traditional. You are always welcomed with a smile. My favourite dish is the prawn katsu don. Yakinniku is also delicious. Nice gyoza.Food: 5/5
Omg. I literally have no words for how good this place is. My daughters and I live on the other side of town and we happened to be in the neighbourhood on search of some Japanese food. We entered this cozy, unassuming place and they were clearly fully booked but somehow they still made room. The food was probably up there with the best Japanese I have ever had, and I have I have dined in all of the most expensive Japanese restaurants in Melbourne and Sydney. The best teriyaki chicken, the freshest sashimi and seafood and service with more than just a smile. I felt like I was dining in their home. The hospitality was phenomenal. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. If I was a local I would happily eat here every day of the week and judging by the warm way people were greeted and how they greeted the owners this must certainly be the case for many locals!!
Cute little Japanese spot. Had the Takoyaki, Salmon sushi and Beef yakiniku. Everything was tasty : Keen to try all the other things!
Really really yummy local Japanese food. Tiny place...but takeaway too.
