Have I found my new favourite restaurant?! Sakana is a bit out of the way, but the interior is very atmospheric in contrast to some of the more industrial surrounds. I went in a larger group so was able to sample quite a bit of the menu, and wow this is great food! The Bento boxes were great value, I personally loved the squid, and even the simpler things, like miso soup and edamame were delicious. There's a wide range of drinks, with tea, soft drinks and multiple types of sake. And the cherry on top is the prices - my grandfather went back inside to check we hadn't been undercharged. Thanks for an amazing evening, will definitely be returning!
I came with a group of 3 over the weekend for lunch. The place is nice and clean. Staff were generally friendly. Slightly disappointed with the grilled squid as it seemed quite small. Portions were on the small side. The bowl of rice was probably somewhere between 1/2 to 2/3 of what you would get from other Japanese restaurants. Perhaps it was because I was ordering from the lunch special menu that portions were a bit smaller. Even then, I'm not a big eater and I wasn't quite full despite an entre normal price and lunch special combined. Food quality is good. Fresh sashimi. Price-wise is probably leaning more to the pricey side. I can think of other Japanese restaurants that offer better value for money not necessarily cheaper, just better value. Parking appeared plentiful but there were a lot of 10 minute parking bays despite the village where the restaurant was located was half-closed. It's worth a visit. I might visit again for their full menu and make my final decision then.
An excellent dining experience every time. Best sushi in town! Fresh and made to order, with well-balanced flavours. If you don’t eat sushi, there’s an extensive menu of hot dishes. Our favourites are the spicy red hot salmon roll and the black dragon roll. Tell everyone about this hidden gem and support local businesses!
One of my favourite Japanese in north-side. I am keep coming back for the quality dishes. Honestly, i have never get disappointed. Rolls and other dishes are all well balanced on taste and the texture. Highly recommended.
If you want to have the best Japanese in Brisbane at a very reasonable price, with excellent quality produce and wonderfully cooked by 2 talented chefs then look no further. A hidden diamond in Clayfield. My partner and I visit this restaurant nearly every fortnight and I promise you will not be disappointed. A big shout out to Andy, Kirk and Zoe who make us feel like family every time we visit. I encourage everyone to visit you will not be disappointed and you will be in on the local secret.
We have frequent many Japanese restaurants in Melbourne. Didn't expect this is better quality of foods and services. Prices were reasonable. Will definitely return when visiting Brisbane.Food: 5/5
The best Japanese restaurant for me!!! We have been this place almost 5yrs. Never had disappointment!! Thank you for all. Nagasaki is awesome!!! Rolls are fascinated!!!
Oh God, where to begin with this place. Tl;dr in advance, don't go here. My gyozas were bland, my eggplant had the texture and flavour of snot, my calamari tasted like a fish and chip shop calamari, the pork curry was horribly seasoned, my drink wasn't mixed well and overall, I felt sick after my meal. The server we had didn't say a word except for "Do you have a reservation?" at the start. Nothing else the entire meal, despite visiting the table several times to drop food and drinks off. Terrible customer service, horrid food and outrageous prices. I'd rather eat at the Sushi Train at Oriel Plaza.
My husband and I dine here weekly. The food is amazing and very reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly. Highly recommend for great Japanese food, especially the sashimi.
Having been frequent diners for many years, recent staff changes have been catastrophic. Arrived recently at 8.00pm, ordered drinks and starters, which arrived 15mins later. Tried to order mains at 8.25pm only to be told that the kitchen was closed. No apology and staff not interested in our disappointment. Will be voting with our wallets and going to Sakura in Windsor from now on. Food and service way better anyway.
