Sail and Anchor

About

Like an eccentric uncle..
Old. Charming. And full of beer.

Story

The Sail and Anchor is an iconic Fremantle landmark serving up pub grub, local and international beer and wine, a range of classic and original cocktails and a wide range of spirits. Versatile and friendly, The Sail and Anchor is perfect for a casual lunch, after work drinks, catching the game, having a big night out or for your special events and functions.

This heritage listed pub boasts a spiraling staircase, wood paneled walls, pressed tin ceilings and friendly staff as well as the original Sail and Anchor brewery. Pouring from 40 cold taps, three hand pumps and four bars; it’s no surprise that we are the leader of the craft beer revolution in Fremantle. The tap beer selection changes regularly, offering old classics, new favourites, small batch releases and seasonal styles, making a visit to the Sail and Anchor an adventure.

A mate of mine used to go here pretty often by himself and talk to punters in the bar just randomly. Sail and Anchor is that kinda place and uncoincidentally my favourite pub in town. I think a lot of it is thanks to nostalgia, like when I think of the chilli beer that they used to have on tap and it was my favourite beer for a while. Years later, it's still good. The range of drinks is still expansive, the chicken parmy is still a winner and it's still a nice vantage point to people watch. I say a lot of places in Freo are definitively Freo, but I think the Sail and Anchor is the most definitive of what Freo is about. All the characters come out to play at all times of the day, and you'd like to be in the midst of it.
Great place for beer. Many rooms and places to hang out. Lots of options on tap. The wrap around balcony is really cool and has views of the street and market. Definitely a place to check out!
Nice food and experience. Easy ordering from the table app. Drinks were a little slow to come out.
This restaurant is the next stop for shoppers of Freo Market across the lane. It is always packed with patrons in the evening on Friday and weekends. I remembered I waited a long time just to grab a chair during that peak hour. This morning I popped by wanting to grab away a coffee. The barista told me to wait until 10 am. But I had to go. I will return for the coffee despite Little Creature may merry go round in my head. Cheers! 2021-10
Delicious and affordable treats to go with an extraordinary range of beers. A great watering hole! n.b. The Calamari is spot-on!
Came here after the funeral of one of my best friends. It was a lovely place, great atmosphere and good selection of drinks and food, as well! Very accommodating to a group of people coming from a funeral. I'd love to come back on a slightly happier note! Unfortunately it's a bit out of the way for me to get to, but maybe one day!
Do yourself a favour when you are in Fremantle next, perfect triple delight: chicken parmigiana, cider of the tap, and home made ! bread and butter pudding topped of with excellent friendly service *and smile
The person behind the bar was rude when asked for a receipt pretty much though it at me. They didn't get our food order right so when they fixed order the fish was under cooked. The steak sandwich was like eating a boot. I will say the drinks prices was good. But would never eat here again
We booked a table for dinner and upon arriving discovered that my daughters 25 year old partner had already been declined entry as he didn’t have his ID. There is no way he looks under 25, let alone under 18. Dressed respectfully. Yet, young females that actually looked under 18 were allowed entry without an ID check at all.
Our favourite little hideout in Fremantle. Located opposite Fremantle weekend market, this little corner is a great place to hang out with friends, family members and your special someone. Not only it serve great bites and snacks, it serves tasty meals too with great selection of hot and cold beverages. We usually come for its Lively atmosphere mostly weekends. Service is fast. Recommended!
