We went there for lunch. There were 4 of us. If you are short on time this place is not for you. It is quite a popular place and waiting for a table, I think there are about 5 of them, or waiting for take away there is almost always a lengthy wait time. The sandwich style food is good, tasty and generous in servings. We have been there a number of times and it does not disappoint. There is something on offer to suit just about anyone. if you happen to still have the room after eating there are beautiful pastries cakes, which are quite decadent and scrumptious. We got 4 of them and took the back to eat later. Unfortunately I didn't get photos of the individual ones we got but there was a beautiful Tiramisu Carrot Cake slice, Thor & cheesy scroll. They were great Inside SAGA sound tends to amplify & it can get very noisy making conversation a little difficult. Great place for food.
Saga sandwiches are serious business. They are on the pricier side at $17-18 however they stack them with ingredients so I don't mind paying the premium. I tried the chicken schnitzel which was a whole breast, really well cooked and a tasty melted cheese on top. The spicy salami toastie was also really good, it had honey drizzled over the top which made it really sticky and I'm not a fan of sweet sandwiches. I will probably get no honey next time.
I had such an amazing blackberry bun here yesterday that I thought I would come back today for a sandwich and some other pastries. Seriously such incredible high quality food and pastries coming out of Saga, definitely my top rated bakery/ patisserie in Newtown/ Enmore. I had the lee Tran sandwich which was a fricken delight. Also their coffee is top notch. Mad love to the team here!! I will be back :
I don't give 5 stars often but this place is amazing!! I had an eggplant parmi roll for lunch. Absolutely delicious, robust and full of flavour. My friend bought me 2 desserts to take away, banana cream pie andthe Cherry ripe one. The banana cream pie is pretty much my perfect dessert. I'm usually more of a savoury person but I'm in love with this dessert. The Cherry ripe is so flavoursome too. I had it with whipped cream. I never knew desserts could be this could. Highly recommend checking this place out!!!
They only do pies in winter and then only sometimes some reviewer suggested you could get them every weekend. The custard tarts have the wrong kind of custard - a runny custard more like crème pâtissière than egg custard. The carrot cake had too much spice and too much cake for the amount of icing. The Breakie and Will sandwiches were over-stuffed with high fat ingredients and lacked balance. Really wanted to like this place a lot more than I did.
So glad I trekked all the way out to Enmore! I got a bunch of take away pastries: the Upside down peach cake amazing, Apple strudelgood, Banana cream pieamazing, Coffee puff my favourite!, Onion tart amazing, Vanilla Slice amazing, Honey tart good, a bit too sweet for me, Carrot Cake good. Good serving size. Service was friendly and prompt. So many of these "hot" pastry places don't live up to their reputation/underwhelms, Saga is a cut above the rest. I will be back for sure. Photos of the other pastries are missing as everyone started devouring them before I got to take a photo ! One drawback: finding parking was a pain, but then it is inner west and on a main busy road.
Such a lovely and cosy cafe. There’re many varieties of desserts and pastries to choose from. I had a date with ‘Tony’ - cocoa nib cake, milk crumb and raspberry mousse :- Will definitely come back to try more desserts. Highly recommended.
We searched for best vanilla slice in Sydney and this place popped up. Was a quite lovely slice with a sliver of Jam under the custard. The cinnamon roll was also lovely. Highlight were the milkshakes which were made from great ingredients. A+
Always great service and great baked goods. Hard to decide what to get someone because there are so many delicious looking items. Had hot cross buns today and they were amazing! Also, love the flat white coffee here
We really enjoyed the sandwiches, cakes were delicious. Great service. Will be back!Food: 5/5
