I commend Sue in the 'Contact Us' Team. I wrote my enquiry yesterday and received correspondence within 24 hours. Sue responded with an email, which was really convenient for me as I work full time. As Sue knew our discussion would be lengthy, she organised a time to call me to discuss further over the phone. She needed to organise for a technician to come out and read our meter as we recently moved into the property. I advised my next day off and she has booked in a tech to come out that day in the AM so I don't have to wait around all day. With the meter box being inside the premises, Sue discussed a few options with me on what we can do to have the meter read. The options weren't super convenient, however, there are workarounds to ensure your property is safe and secure without having to wait at home all day. Sue also set me up to receive notifications for when our meter is due to be read. I think having a work around for 4 business days, every 3 months, is not so bad.
The people who answer the phone are great; friendly and helpful.nAnd it's a relief to speak to someone without an annoying accent.nnTHE PROBLEM is in SAPN's procedural 'rules'.nSpecifically, for a new connection they won't narrow down the time for the meter reader to come out to less than 7am - midnight.nNot that big a deal if there is ready access to the meter, but when the meter is inside the house and you have to be there to let the guy in... completely unworkable. Absurd.nFor an existing a/c at the property you can do a 'special read' and arrange for the guy to come in the morning or afternoon, which is not great but certainly better.nSo, in fact, they CAN narrow the timeframe down - they just CHOOSE NOT TO.nnSo you need to be at the property and awake for up to 17 HOURS, or at least within 20 minutes drive away if you're getting a call before.nThey don't want to inconvenience themselves one tiny little bit, even though we pay exorbitant costs for electricity - $1000's every year.nIf this was any other business... they'd be out of business.nnThis is a standard of 'service' that I'd expect in a developing 2nd world country.nExcept the electricity would be cheaper.
Providing Adelaide cbd and state with reliable safe poles and wires. Good experience working with our Adelaide Engineering department to maintain our supply infrastructure and mains upgrade.
The one star is for Madonna, SAPN customer serivce who patiently listened to my complaint, and escalated it appropriately - thanks Madonna. However this was 9 hours after I first called about an outage and noone at SAPN believed me and told me to check my meter box at 3 am I'm over 60 when blind Freddy could see it was an outage the neighbours and freeway bridge lights were out! This was at a time of night when there were no other outages on the SAPN outages map. Now we've dropped from 1st to 7th for crews - and still waiting. Looks political. Inferring from the outage map, it appears 2 metro SAPN crews only working after a night like we've had? No power, no tank water for heading for 10 hours here in part of the Adelaide Hills - and no end in sight. We pay a fotune for this. Who in their right minds puts an essential service into foreign hands? Grr... not good enough SAPN. Time the state or federal government 'compulsorily acquired' electricity, gas and water from these tyrants. They can do it to private property so they should do it for essential services. Rant over.
kept turning the power on and off without notifying residents they were doing so and then gave incorrect time for the power to turn back on and then it kept getting extended, embarrassing for the state
