Mission

Heritage Sailing Tasmania’s vision is to
integrate traditional sailing, conservation and health promotion in Tasmania.

We do this by aiming to provide our guests and all who sail with us
a unique and personalised Tasmanian experience as they sail on an historic Tasmanian tall ship in our beautiful waterways.

A 2 hour great value sail on the Derwent aboard the SV Rhona was the best end to a magical five days in Hobart. A lovely sunny day, plenty of wind so we could really experience sailing, NZ fur seals spotted on numerous occasions, a chance to be the skipper for a few minutes felt exhilarating and above all the friendliness and passion of owners Julie and Charles and their wonderful intergenerational volunteer crew. I sailed with two friends and four other guests and we could not have been made more welcome, comfortable and looked after by this caring team who were absolutely across everything - general safety, COVID safety, food, drinks tea, coffee, juice, water, and keeping warm. Highly recommend if you are looking for a traveller experience as opposed to a tourist experience. Thank you SV Rhona!

What a fantastic experience! If you want to see the Derwent river and Hobart from the water, this is the way to do it. Julie and Charles are wonderful hosts and their crew are knowledgeable and experienced. NYE fireworks from the Rhona are fantastic

Had a great day with my 7yo son, it was his first time on anything like a sailing boat. He got to hold the wheel, ring the bell, and was generally spoiled rotted by the crew with lots of attention. Very reasonable price for the memories he will have, a beautiful day and the crew were awesome. Hobart is a wonderful place to visit and the Rhona H was a great experience. Thanks again!!!!

The crew were all amazing. Everyone was lovely and made the day special for my mum's 60th birthday. Can't recommend these guys enough

My work colleague's and myself , had an amazing sailing experience on this vessel on Friday night. The weather was perfect  a little cold and breezy but tolerable. A big thank you to Julie and Charles for making the trip so enjoyable. The crew who are all volunteers were so accomodating,  and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommend these people -  they work so hard to make the trip memorable! !!

Julie and Charles are fantastic hostess and skipper.  Authentic tallship that we got to steer under sail in the beautifull Hobart harbor.  We would go back again in a flash... highly recommend.
