Russian Travel Centre

In April-May 2012, my friend and I went on a trip (month long trip through the trans Siberian) booked through the Russian Travel Centre. We thought we were in very safe hands, having both spent a small fortune booking through an agency (after hearing how little independent travellers had paid). For the most part, we had a great time and love Russia - however, when we arrived in Moscow, we were really let down. The hostel that was arranged for us didn't exist - it was a scam hostel. We had waited at the address we were given, pressing a buzzer for hours (annoying some poor guy on a sunday evening), trying to call our contacts (slowly running out of phone battery) - who didn't believe us and thought we were just lost and stupid (fair enough). One helpful neighbor let us into the housing block, only to find the unit we were supposed to stay in had a large swastika spray painted on it's door. Definitely not 'the Red Hostel'. We eventually got through to our contact and she arranged for us to stay with one of her contacts - at about 11 pm. This is the kind of stuff I expect when traveling independently - and if we were, we could have simply chosen one ourselves and made our own way (which we were just about to do). Lesson learned.

Late last year we completed a 10 day tour of Romania which was booked through Russian Travel Centre. The tour was titled "Romantic Romania". They were very obliging when requested to modify their advertised 10 day tour to suit our personal needs. We enjoyed the tour very much and have recommended it to other members of our family and to friends. We feel that the success and the enjoyment of the tour was to a large part due our guide/driver Teo Tat. Teo was a careful driver, he was very obliging, well mannered and knowledgeable. Hi English was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for him. If you were hungry or thirsty he would stop. If you wanted to explore a roadside market he would stop and help. If you wanted to take a photo he would find the best position. If you wanted to visit a cemetery it was not a problem. The main reason for our visit to Romania was to visit Vatra Dornei where my mother and her family lived. Teo completely immersed himself into our spirit of adventure and helped locate things that were important to us. If other members of our family venture back to Romania, we will certainly be recommending your company and Teo as their guide/driver.
