I've used RTR on some of my larger scale events, where they have provided AV, communications and rigging/staging services. Their rigging has always been top notch, and they've also provided stage extensions for me, ensuring set up is always completed ahead of schedule. Their AV equipment and operators have always been exceptional, their crew easily among the best I've worked with, and I know of no other company who will provide better value for money. They have always gone over and above when it comes to troubleshooting any last minute problems or changes. I couldn't recommend them highly enough - I will never go through any other company now when it comes to events where I need external equipment/rigging/operators.

Our firm contracted RTR Productions to supply AV needs for an event. The whole process was faultless from start to finish. Professional service with an excellent eye for detail. The level of customer service far exceeded my expectations. A big thank you.

Faulty equipment, rude, unhelpful staff and appalling customer service. Do not hire from this company.

My family hired a lectern from this company to use at my father’s funeral. Initially, the staff were helpful and the price seemed reasonable. That is where the positives of our experience with RTR stopped.

Because my mother wanted to pay for the lectern but would not able to pick it up on the day, we went in two days early to provide all the relevant id and pay. On the morning of the funeral, I went to pick up the equipment only to be met by a hostile and extremely rude employee who said he didn’t have any of the paper work and we could not have anything without doing all the paperwork again. This went on for around 15 minutes with the staff bickering. It was only resolved when this unpleasant character called for the manager who found the paper work and confirmed that it was okay to release the equipment to me. 

When we set up the equipment we found that: (i) they did not provide microphone leads (my mother did not think to ask for them when hiring – as we assumed things would be in working order nor did they ask the question as to whether we might need them or what was the pa system); (ii) when we did connect the microphone using a working cable neither microphone worked; (iii) the adapter they provided to power the lectern light was the wrong size so it did not work.

When we contacted them on the day to say we were having these issues they basically said that it was not their problem, they did not offer to come out and exchange the microphones or adapter. They also did not check the equipment when we returned it or offered a refund. In terms of the microphone cables, they said that that was our problem because we didn’t ask for them upfront and they can’t know what type of p.a. system we were using. 

Fortunately, the venue we were using had a working microphone. However, they noted that they had experienced a similar issue with the same company during a previous event. 

The faulty equipment, combined with the actions and behaviours of RTR Productions made a very difficult time for our family much more stressful and challenging. Their response, when we expressed our disappointment directly with them, was a contrite ‘not our problem’. If you have an important, meaningful or special event that you need equipment for, for your sake, look elsewhere.
