I've visited the RSPCA op shop several times, but unfortunately, my experiences have consistently been disappointing. Many items—particularly jewellery, silverware, collectibles, and various other goods—are significantly overpriced. It's not uncommon to see secondhand pieces marked higher than brand-new equivalents from retail stores or even antique dealers. For example, silver items are often priced at $15–$25 per gram, which seems excessive considering the stock is donated.nnWhen asked about the pricing, staff often refer to antique dealers or jewellers as their benchmark. However, this approach appears inconsistent with the mission of a charity shop, where affordability should be a key value. Unlike most dealers, who are typically willing to negotiate—even on items they've purchased—the RSPCA generally refuses to do so, despite receiving their stock for free.
Great op shop, in the centre of town. On a number of bus routes so reasonably accessible by public transport, especially as there is little to no parking. Has a large selection of items with a clothing/book area in the front and a kitchen/furniture/other area out back in basically a tin shed. 7/10
I used to love coming here years ago, now it feels like they’re trying to be an antiques store. Your items are donated, just because you can slap a vintage label on it doesn’t mean you should ask $45 for it. I’ve seen those items a dozen times for under $10 at other stores. Op shops helped people, helped give a second life to items for less landfill and were a charity. Now I prefer to actually buy new again and donate my nice things to more humble stores
This ophop is a shopping experience.nStock here is wonderful show casing the donations from the surrounding community and the work of volunteers in this shop.nPrices are realistic with collectibles and designer stock at reasonable prices.nHere you will find things you need as well as things you want.nThe art of the hunt is dense and imaginative.nJust when you think you've seen it all you discover a second space housed at the back through a connecting ramp with even more stock and furniture.nWorkers here are warm, helpful and friendly.nThe front has small steps but the back has full disability access. I'm not sure how to access this from the road so call ahead if you need all abilities access.
Have always loved going to this op shop, however the last couple of weeks it has gone downhill. The book section always looked immaculate but now it is all over the place, as well as the price increases- magazines that are a couple of years old I used to purchase for $1 have now increased to $4. The rear building was always tidy but now just looks messy since it has been rearranged not as much room to move around One thing that hasn't changed is the volunteers who are always friendly and helpful 5 stars go to them!
