We had a fantastic time at Ross Hill winery! Beautiful location and cellar door. We are wine novices but Michelle made us feel so welcome and was extremely knowledgeable! Michelle really made the whole experience lovely and went above and beyond to drop our purchases to our local air bnb so we didn't have to lug it around with us! The generous wine tasting was delicious and paired very well with a grazing plate. We walked away with 3 amazing bottles, two of which we drank whilst in Australia and a particularly good cab franc that we saved which survived the plane journey back to the UK! Thank you again for a wonderful time, from the UK visitors Helen and John who visited on a rainy Wednesday afternoon :
We were welcomed by very friendly staff. We had the wine and matching food tastings. Wines were presented and explained with great knowledge. We liked all 7 of the wines presented. We were also able to taste other wines. We will be recommending the winery to our wine loving friends. We look forward to visiting again next time we come to Orange.
Had a lovely time at the wine tasting. The wine barrel shed was a real surprise - the perfect place for wine tasting and a platter. Ross Hill staff were super, the wine and tasting platter excellent and for those with a 4 legged friend, the winery is very dog friendly. Well worth a visit for wine lovers and just lovers of a beautiful day out. Highly recommend. Thanks ‘Ross Hill’
They were pretty busy but we still got to taste half a dozen wines at our table outdoors which was great. We were informed that the kids had to be contained and the winery provided colouring pages and pencils for the little ones which was great. One of our party bought juice boxes for the little kids which kept them happy. We then sat some kids in the car when they had had enough. The staff were good. They moved us on at 4:30 as they were closing which was fine, but unexpected. We should have looked at the closing time on the website but a 'last call' may be something for the winery to consider. Nice wines, though none stood out as particularly different or unusual to us. They were lovely though. We got a tempranillo in the end. The staff were knowledgeable and despite having a busy day, were happy to talk to us and answer questions. We didn't get to taste individual wines to our liking after ticking the boxes we wanted to try, as they were so busy, but the staff did their best to give us a good range. Perhaps the busyness and more general type tasting was why we didn't find any that particularly stood out to us. We did book for our group of 11 adults and 8 kids. Bookings essential. Great atmosphere outdoors. Amenities were clean and fresh.
Highly recommend booking a tasting with a tasting plate at Ross Hill. Though I've tasted at a great many wineries, I've never done a tasting where each wine was matched to a food item that best complements it. And what a difference that made, bringing out the best characteristics of each wine, and prompting us to buy a few bottles. More wineries should offer this service. Thanks!
My partner and I dropped in for a wine tasting this afternoon. Although we didn’t have a booking we were warmly welcomed and offered a cosy table by the fire place. Our server Katy was super friendly and provided a great explanation of all the wines at Ross Hill. The combination of great tasting wines and awesome customer service makes this a top pick for cellar doors in Orange!
What a great winery . The staff were as good as their wines. We did the tasting flight with a matching food plate. So worthwhile. It's enhanced the wines and our experience
Our first winery stop and couldn’t be happier. We went with the tasting platter as well and were super glad we did. It was Lindy that really made it special though. She looked after us so well and gave us the best advice for the rest of our stay. The wine was decent too. :
Loved the complimentary wine tour at 10am, worthwhile waking up for. The wines are all very palatable we had tried the night before at Birdie Noshery in town. The Rose is the best I can recall having as is the sauv blanc which I usually don't drink, we walked away with half a dozen bottles. The wines are well priced across the spectrum and they all tasted really good. Worth while visiting when you go to Orange.
Great experience at Ross Hill Wines. Lindy was so knowledgeable and happy to answer all of my questions. The wine was delicious! Especially loved the pairing with the tasting plate.
