The station has 10 platforms in total, which is quite complex, so when you are looking for your train, I suggest you do some research in advance and look closely to the timetable screens.nOn the other hand, the best thing about this station is that you can just take the escalators across the station and directly to Roma Street Parklands, which is one of the most popular tourist attractions near Brisbane City.
Roma St station is currently undergoing a significant renovation, which has made the entrance less obvious compared to its previous state. Despite this, the station remains incredibly convenient in Brisbane, serving as the central hub of the Southeast Queensland railway system. It offers direct train services to various destinations without the need for transfers.nnHowever, I must admit that I have some reservations about the station's interior design, which is the reason behind my three-star rating. As a city chosen to host the 2032 Olympics, I expected a more modern and visually appealing station. Unfortunately, the majority of the station's infrastructure gives off a vibe more commonly associated with railway stations in the global south. I hope that as part of the renovation, they not only focus on improving the entrance but also revamp the platforms to reflect the city's status as a global destination.nnAnother aspect that detracts from my overall experience is the limited food options available. Previously, there was a McDonald's located on the second floor of the station. However, it has been replaced by self-service food vending machines, offering a less satisfying dining experience. I believe that having a diverse range of food choices within the station would greatly enhance the overall convenience and comfort for commuters and travelers passing through.nnDespite these drawbacks, it is important to acknowledge that Roma St station remains a crucial transportation hub in Brisbane, connecting passengers to various destinations seamlessly. Once the renovation is complete, I hope to see improvements not only in the station's entrance but also in its overall aesthetic and amenities. With careful consideration of the city's status and the needs of commuters, I believe that Roma St station can become a truly impressive transportation hub worthy of its role in Southeast Queensland's rail network.
Roma street is the best station in the city. I do not care if I have to ealk all over the place I come and go from Roma station most of the time. The staff are friendly and its inside/ outside with fresh air.
There are some weirdos gathering at the main entrances for bus line and train line almost all the time. They are somehow making most of the passengers uncomfortable. I never witness or hear about any incident about this. But how about considering about a security guard guarding at the entrances. That would make all the passengers feel much safer and more secured. The police station is just across the road but this issue has never been solved completely
What can I say? It's a great connector, and a good train line end point. Haven't been many places on this line other than Brisbane and home, but you take what you can get.
