Amazing!! The View is perfect, calming and wonderful. We chose the place for this and not disappointed. Got a table while the sun setting so beautiful colours on the horizon. Staff were attentive and polite, and had a good sense of humour. The decor is tasteful and comfortable. Impressed with the bar choices The food was deliscious. Cooked beautifully and great touches to enhance the elements of the dishes. We were so full from our main. Lovely sorbet choices. Definitely want to come back to try other dishes on the menu
Lovely restaurant, went as a walk in but got seated a table with a view over the harbour. Upstairs is a bar menu, downstairs a little more expensive. We had a whole place which was catch of the day with a wild garlic hollandaise, the skin on fries were the best we've ever had. The whole thing was delicious, it is a little pricey as you have to add chips or veg on separately, but the whole experience was great , our waitress was so helpful and friendly. In fact all the staff were very attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely return next time we stay in Folkestone.
We went into the bar for lunch as we'd been before. My son and I had the flavoursome cheeseburgers again which you can see behind the Folkestone Brown Crab Tarte, which my wife had. We followed that with a couple of desserts. The presentation was a delight to look at and the tastes were amazing. We also chatted with the knowledgeable staff about other items on the menu, the drinks and a future visit to the actual restaurant, which is situated below the bar.
Visited Sunday 26 March. As previously stated a great building and location. Sadly on this occasion service and food were nowhere near as good. Wine arrived before cocktails and no one bothered to serve the wine or ask if it was okay. Food was cold. Several side dishes did not arrive and when this was pointed out to the manager he said we’d forgotten to order them! Later two glasses of wine arrived when we’d ordered one. Towards the end of the meal we ordered another glass of wine which never materialised. They had the good grace to remove the service charge before I asked and they ‘compted’ the deserts. None of which made up for very disappointing lunch. At £245 for four of us without service and deserts very poor value. Maybe best to avoid Sunday lunch I’m being generous unless you value architecture and views above food and service.
Restaurant, lovely fish restaurant right on the harbour so changing views all the time. Beautiful food and a good selection on the menu, several meat options if you don’t fancy fish. Staff really helpful and food cooked and presented very well. £10-£15 for a starter prawns big enough to share, mains £25, sides £4 and deserts £8. Was not rushed at all and had our table between 6.30-9.30 on a Friday night in March, was pretty much full. Rooms/Accommodation, only four rooms and only two have sea views so book early, clean, presented well, coffee machine and great views across the harbour, breakfast included which was again excellent.
Well worth the wait. Finally managed to get booked in always no room. It didn’t disappoint. The service top notch. Food amazing. Cocktails to die for and the view of the harbour from the restaurant over the glass balustrade. I had the steak amazing mrs had the salmon which was delicious the restaurant is clean and a great atmosphere
I was really looking for the dinner here, the location and views are amazing, apart from that I was massively disappointed with the food, the oysters were small and my steak cam with some green dip that seemed to be blended herbs which gave me a upset stomach. It was a shame but did not enjoy the meal at all and our friends we took with us did not really enjoy the meal either, sorry but I won't be going back again
First Class all the way. Excellent stay in lovely room. Dinner and breakfast were exceptionally good. Service was spot on. Will not need a special occasion to go again!Food: 5/5
A perfect place with amazing harbour view and lovely staff. Food is fabulous with picture perfect plating. It is my wife’s birthday and the staff made our day. Book in advance as it tends to get busy. Highly recommend.Recommended dishesSeafood, Sunday Roast
We arrived via the bar after parking in the harbour carpark and were basically ignored because a dining customer approached the bar after us to pay. When the unhappy 'gentleman' behind the bar finally took time for us he made zero eye contact, just asked 'do you know what you want or do you want a menu?'. Stated we were staying overnight so would like to check in and was then directed downstairs to reception. Check in experience was good, we were shown to our room not in the main restaurant building, advised on where to find breakfast etc and how to contact the restaurant should we need anything. We were booked for dinner in the restaurant and unfortunately grumpy bar man was again working. We were seated by the window with a lovely view and the floor staff that served us were absolutely delightful, a young lady advised us of her recommendation from the wine list and then Laszlo kindly served up some cocktails in place of desert. Our food was the standard we have previously had at Rock salt so no disappointment there. At the end of our meal we decided to cross the road back to our room but stopped by the bar should have known better to grab a bottle of wine, where we were met with a rather over authoritative yell to Laszlo also with another guest to double check that we were 'allowed' to buy a bottle of wine to take away. This is when my friend asked him what he was angry about as since our arrival this man had been nothing short of unwelcoming and quite derogatory towards us. The room was comfortable and the coffee machine was a huge bonus. Breakfast was a disaster, we sat down at 9.40am and were served at 10.35am, two avocado/poached egg on toast only two other tables at the time we sat down. The waitress was clearly overwhelmed, with management/senior team milling about but not much assistance offered. Overall, it's a beautiful restaurant, the food is delicious but the service is lacking and there is clearly very minimal senior management direction or involvement, overall it does not quantify the price.
