VISIT: end of February 2020 FOOD: Warm Prawn Salad, Confit of Lamb Shoulder, Char Grilled Wakanui Aged Grain Fed Sirloin Steak LOW-CARB OPTIONS: Warm Prawn Salad, Most of the main courses and sub side with a low-carb side This place was recommended to us as my husband was looking for lamb. So local hands down recommended this place and all our dishes were delicious! I couldn't help myself when I saw Warm Prawn Salad and it was delicious and light! My husband absolutely loved his lamb and my steak was so moist and juicy. The server was very friendly and attentive and it's a cute little place. Unfortunately for them, a fitness gym moved in above them, so there is all this random banging during dinner! I wouldn't let that deter you, because the food is delicious and once you know that hopefully it won't be as much of a surprise!
We went early as hubby had first table. The location is pretty underwhelming so you expect a lot from the food. Unfortunately I would not have paid more at half price for wot we got. The meat wasn't super great and the carrot with skin left on was awful. Very bitter. Also nothing for vegetarians apart from a token salad. Very average. :
Exceptional and exquisite experience. The food was outstanding in both taste and presentation. Stand outs were the lamb rack and shoulder, the salmon and the venison. We really enjoyed the atmospheres too. This restaurant is a wonderful addition to Queenstown and is set to be recommended to others. Many thanks to the team for amazing food and warm service.
I think the greatest strength of New Zealand is its inclusive and diverse culture, which is well reflected in this restaurant. The lamb chops for dinner are very tender and the sauce is very goodmint sauce somethingWe also ordered noodle soup,Si Chuan chicken and eggplant which was amazing, the soup is in rich flavor and noodle is hand-pulled. Forgive us for forgetting to take pictures because we were in such a hurry to eat.
This restaurant is kind of small. Decor and Ambience seems to be old. Went for the lamb shoulder confit with cutlets. Don't really find the shoulder outstanding. Anyway the lamb chomp taste was good. Weird to have one waitress serving the whole restaurant. I didn't even see the manager on duties. Overall 3.5* for me.
Lamb Shoulder looked tasty. But far from good. It’s so small. Lamb was dry and not soft. The source didn’t go well with it. I felt so sorry for the lamb which was cooked like this. I ordered Tasting Platter as well I didn’t take a photo of this . It was like...I might have ever eaten like this taste in “Countdown”. There is one last thing, although I ordered “Pink Grape Fruit Juice”, they brought me “Grape Juice”. I thought they just misunderstood my order. When I asked about it again, they said “It is Pink Grape FRUIT Juice. The color is just little bit darker because it is mixed with apple juice”. ??? But smelled like grape juice, obviously tasted grape juice. I was tired of talking with them. I drank it.
I had a wonderful dinner here! The awarded dish, Lamb shoulder config was delicious. I also ordered the French onion soup, pork belly and half dozen of bluff oyster. I do recommend you to try the awarded dish.
Excellent friendly staffs, I ordered lamb shoulder was amazing.
Highly recommended! Had an excellent dining experience at Roaring Megs restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and kind. The lamb rack and sirloin steak were cooked very well, and the crumble was very well balanced and delicious. Will come back again!
Yummy dinner Amazing tender meats, so tasty and good serving size. Waitress was lovely too, and wine selection was great. We will definitely book here again on our next visit to Queenstown.
