Studying under-graduate engineering and fine art here. Currently on the third year.n+ A very small majority of teachers do love what they teach, and they make sure people understand.n+ Equitable learning service team has people do care about you.nOther than that?n- Under-maintained facility.n- Lots of teachers just don’t care about anything: “Today you should be completing xxx assignments” And then they vanish.n- Lecturers and tutors completely ignore students mental well-being.n- Engineering exams, people who marked your test does not even looked at your paper. You have to ask for review.n-“We understand things are hard so we made them easier for you” Then continue to add a bunch of additional requirement one week!!! Before! A 5 week long assignment!!!
As an RMIT graduate, I still deeply miss the student life I had there. As an international student, I felt truly supported throughout my studies. The teachers were highly responsible, approachable, and genuinely cared about our learning outcomes. They didn’t just teach theory—they also helped us understand how to apply our knowledge in real-world situations, which made a big difference in my confidence and career preparation.nnThe university also provided many practical resources, workshops, and industry-linked opportunities that helped me build relevant skills and connect with professionals. I really appreciated how inclusive and diverse the campus environment was—it made me feel welcome from day one.nnAnother major advantage was RMIT’s location right in the heart of Melbourne. It was incredibly convenient for commuting, finding part-time jobs, and exploring the city after class. The blend of urban energy and academic focus made my time at RMIT both productive and memorable.
Anything but satisfactory. They are very happy to sell degrees which then require practical experience, which is then impossible to find. There are entire courses of student s who cannot obtain their formal degree because the work experience is not available, and RMIT does not help. Very happy to elaborate...before I take this further
Terrible timetabling, a mixed bag of teachers, but good practicals and labs? Myself and many other peers have had issues with very incorrect, missing or misleading timetabling issues every single semester. This doesn’t seem to be a problem with other universities. When requesting to change classes to avoid assigned “double ups”, some teachers are helpful, whilst other teachers blatantly tell you to unenroll from the class! Teachers and professors fail to communicate dates and times of lectures, practicals, exams and fieldworks, making it increasingly difficult to attend classes and graded activities. As the classes run at the same time, or leave no time to travel from a fieldwork outside of campus, back to a campus for a class or exam etc… Additionally there is often a great lack of clarity in what is expected from students to complete, with varying expectations in workloads. Some teachers are very helpful whilst others seem bothered to have to deal with issues that are not your fault. However often the practicals and fieldworks are very beneficial, but do struggle to outweigh the negatives. Unfortunately I still do not recommend RMIT, and would advise others to consider other options if possible. Whilst RMITs issues are not “major”, they are unnecessarily painful and irritating.
I have studied at RMIT for one year, specializing in community service. It has the best campus and the best teachers! I can truly say that I have really enjoyed my time at RMIT. The teachers were very helpful, friendly, and always eager to support students in their learning. They genuinely want you to succeed, and I feel fortunate to have had such great teachers at RMIT. Thanks to all the teachers for their help.
