THE STORY OF RHEE TAEKWONDO
Approximately 1300 years ago, during the Silla Dynasty in Korea an ancient form of unarmed combat – known these days as Tae-Kyon evolved. The ancient Art of Tae-Kyon is now widely dispersed throughout the world and known as various forms of Taekwon-do.
The definition of Rhee Taekwon-do involves dynamic techniques of unarmed combat for self-defensive purposes, combining the skilled application of powerful punches, flying kicks, blocks, dodges and interceptions the Rhee Taekwon-do practitioner uses well trained hands, arms and feet to effect the rapid destruction of any attacker.
Master Rhee is the official Founder of Rhee Taekwon-do in Australia; the Master Instructor and Chief Instructor for Australia and New Zealand, President of the Rhee Taekwon-do instructors Federation of Australia and New Zealand.

Who can Learn Rhee Taekwon-do?
Anyone can learn and enjoy Rhee Taekwon-do. Male or Female, Large or Small, Strong or Weak, Child, Teenager or Adult …. All can be taught the dynamic self defence techniques of Rhee Taekwon-do. Rhee Taekwon-do SaBum (teacher) instruction is suitable for anyone aged 5 to 65 years. You don’t even need any prior knowledge of martial arts.
Fitness
The movements in Rhee Taekwon-do are scientifically designed with a specific purpose in mind. Many movements involve beneficial stretching of the arms, legs and torso and regular practice of the Art will increase your level of aerobic (heart and lung) fitness.

Controlled Technique
Rhee Taekwon-do teaches controlled technique. It is regarded as one of the most dynamic and effective Arts of self-defence and so during training, all techniques delivered by all parts of the body are properly executed and well controlled. This means that there is no injury as a result of uncontrolled blows during training, but you will learn how to deliver full-powered blows in defense of yourself and your family.
SaBum – Korean word for ‘Martial Arts Teacher / Instructor’
Rhee Taekwon-do SaBum are highly qualified professionals officially appointed by the organisation, and by World Master Chong Chul Rhee. The SaBum are dedicated, skilled martial artists, specially selected with great consideration and are carefully trained to bring out the best in their students.
They are fully recognised by the Australian and New Zealand Rhee Taekwon-do Instructors Federation, and also the Australian Rhee Taekwon-do Federation. These highly qualified SaBum invest a great deal of time and patience to ensure the members achieve a good standard that they can be proud of.
Rhee Taekwon-do SaBums’ vast experience and great knowledge of the art certainly benefit the members’ progress in training. Besides the excellent technical skills and talents of the SaBum, they also possess high moral and professional standards so that the members can fully understand the true essence of the art and its philosophy.
Rhee Taekwon-do SaBum (teachers) and Yudanja (black belt teachers assistants) demonstrate great care, understanding, consideration and fortitude to gradually guide the students’ development in pursuit of the art. Over the years they have established an outstanding record and today’s excellent standards of the members speak for themselves.
