What I really loved about the menu was the inclusion of kupu and kai Māori. It was a bit of a hit and miss with the food tho if I am to be honest. The majority of the food was lovely, the chicken was the let down. Seafood chowder was delicious, as was the rewana. Other then that, brilliant service, and lovely environment. Thank you
We ate here for dinner as we were staying at the Novotel, and we were really impressed by the food. We had the seafood chowder, 700g rib eye to share, and the apple tarte tatin and sticky date pudding. The dishes were well presented and the flavours balanced. We booked the restaurant deal through the hotel which was amazing value, but would have been very satisfied even at full price.
We are Accor Plus members and locals eating here for the first time. Staff were friendly and professional. There was no ambience. Menus were tired and worn. Food was a mixed bag. Seafood chowder was small and prawns were tough. Lamb cutlets entree was a bit over cooked and ordinary. Potato on mains was not hot. The steak was tender and tasty medium but the bourbon pork ribs were a huge letdown - tough and fatty with an over emphasis on the rich bourbon sauce. My wife had a mocktail which was effectively an over priced juice. The dress code was lower than casual. There was a table of rowdy senior Brits swearing at one another which staff appeared to ignore. Quite frankly, it felt like we were in an episode of Fawlty Towers and I was half expecting Basil himself to appear from somewhere. This restaurant is a bit of an embarrassment to Hamilton given that it’s connected to our supposedly top hotel.
Food was great, service was friendly, and the ambience had an air of sophistication. The meal was a bit pricey $127 for two mains, glass of pinot, side veges, and a dessert. The staff knew the specials and were easygoing yet professional. Parking: Underground parking at nearby casino
Came to eat but ordered drink first. Was told by restaurant lady I couldn't be seat and wait as early. I explained I have a fully ruptured archilles and can't sit on stools. Answer still no. I am an accor member both vacation club and All accor. Arrogantly rude. I wouldn't have asked if seating was available
Nice place to have a relaxing atmosphere. It’s cosy with attentive staff. The location is convenient as there are plenty parking available on site. The food is nice but there is some room to improve.
Amazing experience once again at this fabulous restaurant. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by their friendly staff. Attending on us was Dom, friendly, approachable & made us comfortable. Their scotch fillet & beef tartare were divine. Tender, juicy and oozing with deliciousness. Tasty & warm enough to our palate. Steamed veg crunchy & yet not too hard. Simply awesome meal. To top it all was the mouth watering dessert of French macaroons, brownie w/ vanilla icecream. A happy anniversary for is indeed. Thanks Chef & Dom. You guys rocked!!!
The waiters are an absolute pleasure! Unfortunately the chef cooking tonight was not. My meal was beautiful, my friends however was inedible. Couldn’t chew it and needed a band saw to cut through it. We very graciously told the wait staff who did their best to remedy it for us. The chef sent the rubber like piece of meat he called “steak” back to our table saying there was nothing wrong with it. We left promptly having not even finished our drinks because the whole situation made us feel awkward and uncomfortable. A real shame. Also, we’re not Karens. We just wanted a delicious steak and a cute waiter… we got the cute waiter…
Went here for my birthday and we ordered the skirt steak and mascarpone filled bread rolls entree, pork belly with thai slaw and the steak on mash with mushroom rare. For desert shared the ginger and pear cake. The skirt steak was beautiful and cooked to perfection with kimchi and sugar brittle and pork crackling a real pleasure to eat. The rolls while full of flavour were disappointing as they were not warm. Mains were stunning, steak was rare and well rested not cold in the middle. And the pork belly was tender and sweet both a delicious choice. The desert came on a plate with happy birthday written on it, put a smile on my face. The ginger flavour was strong and the ice cream side was well frozen and didn't melt quickly. Service was fast and the staff very friendly. Will go again.
Friendly, attentive wait staff with food served in a timely manner. Very well thought out dishes that were bursting with flavour. Great dining atmosphere with views of the Waikato river.
