On a Monday evening in march we were stunned to find it almost impossible to get in anywhere for dinner in Strahan.nWe decided to try the regatta point tavern and not only did they squeeze us in, but the roast lamb dinner I had was delicious. My wife had the turkey and it was good, but the lamb was better.nPlus they charge fairly reasonable pub grub prices.nShared the apple pie to finish and it was also very good and sensibly priced.nRecommended.
If you are looking for a nice spot to go for dinner this is not the spot! It’s got a nice view but that’s about it, waiting about an 1hr for meals. Everything was microwaved and didn’t know how to cook something as simple as garlic bread. Way over priced for the servings you get. If you are wanting to leave a place feeling ill and throwing up after you eat here this is the place to go to. All round just not worth the time.
We found this to be one of the only affordable eats out in Strahan. The atmosphere is that of you typical small town club, and the service was amazing. The staff were kind and worked really well to assist with dietary requirements. Food was delicious, particularly the ocean trout. Would definitely revisit.
Unfortunately the only good part of eating at this location was the view. We arrived for dinner here on Monday 4th March at 6pm and the main area was full, with some diners sitting in the bar area to eat their food. We decided to eat in the bar area which was not a problem for us, however after waiting just over an hour for three mains of Chicken Parmigiana, chips and salad $30 each, we were given what essentially looked like a dinner plate of oil, the cheese was abnormally thick and was oozing oil, the Parmigiana was hot but not crispy on any part of the main and was also heavily soaked with oil, the chips were hot but not crunchy and the side bowl of salad was swimming in the vinaigrette. By this time of night there was no choice but to consume the food provided, as this location shuts at 8pm. There was also no alternative options for obtaining food as there are very limited services in Strahan. The front of house staff were friendly. We noticed quite a number of individuals and groups of people leaving quite soon after arrival, possibly in the hope of being able to get food somewhere else.
Hate leaving a bad review. Went to this pub on lots of recommendations both verbally and internet based for them to tell us no food tonight the chefs having a night off… please put a sign out the front….
