Firstly and most importantly to us, it has a really nice pet friendly area with glass petitioning to keep out the cool breeze. The staff, particularly the older female who served us, were very friendly and welcoming. The food especially the pork belly was delicious. Would recommend to anyone staying in BrokenHill. Will also be recommended to the ‘traveling with pets’ social media groups I follow. All round a lovely experience
Really friendly and helpful staff. Dogs allowed at outdoor tables so was really nice that my dog didn't have to wait in the car yet again after travelling. I chose the BBQ chicken pizza which was loaded with toppings and really delicious.Service: 5/5
Very confusing setting. This is a review about the restaurant and not the accommodation or the bar. We dinned today, and I can not say that it was a good decision. Certainly, I understand that it was a busy day and there were not enough staff to deal with that many dinners. We did not have a booking. However, they accommodate us. The manager is a bit too cool for this type of business. Even under stress, a smile and a friendly word are paramount. People can cook at home as well. A restaurant offers more than a dish of food. It should be a nice experience from the very beginning. The food was a linguini drowning in the pesto oil. Tasty, but too much. The carbonara was not pleasant in the consistency and underwhelming. The chicken schnitzel had slightly burned crumbles. It was very plain in the taste. The chips with it were a disaster! Not well fried. Yes, they might come from a bag, but the art of frying defines the end result. Very disappointing. On the other hand, I need to praise Chloe. She served our table well, and despite the pressure, she had a nice word to say. The rest of the staff, without being unfriendly, they were apparently stressed, and they behaved to each other noticeable aggressively. Again, the manager did not have any more to say than "everything alright?". A more friendly attitude, it would be more helpful. It might elleviate the stress as well. The hotel as a restaurant and interior design is very nice. It needs a bit more to make it a happy place.
We visited Broken Hill on 27th Dec and found hardly anyone open for Business, The cafe part of the astra complex was buzzing with people having everything from coffee to full blown breakfasts. We had a simple breakfast and left, we then came back for lunch in their Astra Restaurant which had the A/C on as it was 38 degrees outside excellent service and their burger & chips was great. We them met up with friends for dinner and decided to have a drink at Red Lush with our main meal again at the restaurant at the Astra. The place was a hive of activity again with walkin's and booked people. The staff did an amazing job as Im sure they did not expect that many people. We had the Salmon & the Pork Belly which were both served so excellently. I only saw two chefs in the kitchen so they did an amazing job cooking for that many people from 5.30 through to 8pm when we left. Congratulations to all at the Astra complex and a big THANK YOU for being open when many others were not.
Asked to take menu ...will be with you shortly ....lol 15 mins later approached counter and asked for service...wow senior staff member states they where too busy washing spoons and gossiping ...only 2 other groups at the time in the cafe .staff member continued and made complete fool of herself in front of remaking customers. Previous visits fantastic service and food. This time never again ..attitude plus from staff member and co worker.
Compliments to the chef here. I had the lamb one night and duck the next. If you are looking for an upscale dining option in Broken Hill this is it!Service: 5/5
Since my review was deleted I’ll repost it. A response would be nice We went for dinner tonight 29.6.2022 at 6pm. There was 4 other tables in front of us. We were sat down for 20 mins before we even got our drinks. Another table asked to be served who were there before us and was told rudely by the woman with purple hair the chef told them to stop taking orders so they could catch up. 7pm comes around we still hadn’t been served nor told that they weren’t taking any orders. We ended up paying for our drinks and leaving along with another couple. While paying, a table that wasn’t even there when we arrived was being served and having their menus taken away. This is the second time this year I have had this experience where the chef has told them to stop serving people and both times we haven’t been told. The 3rd experience I’ve also had with this waitress who has been incredibly rude each time talking down to me like a child. How do you expect to expand your dining area into what was temptations when the chef can not handle 4 tables by 6:30. Many people up in the old temptations area were very annoyed. The girl on register was very polite and apologetic Atleast.
Beautiful meal with great service - the lady who runs it is going a great job - best place in broken hillRooms: 5/5
I'm in Broken Hill for work and being Friday night after a big week I thought it would be nice to treat myself to a nice meal. This is the place I chose. As a meal the Pork Belly was the best meal I have had all week. The service though was very ordinary. I started off with a beer, this was finished by the time the main arrived. I had seen a merlot on the wine list that I wanted to order a glass of. I never saw or no one asked me for the rest of the meal. My empty beer glass is sitting there conspicuously in plain view. A person who I think is wait staff, have walked past with full hands of cutlery but never looked my way. I finished my meal a while ago and have now written this review with no staff in sight.I did not order a desert and never got that wine.So great food , very ordinary staff.
Didn't stay there. Only went ti the connected Cafe and used their b/room. Beautiful building
