Extremely pricey for an op shop, items 2 times the price of most others in various sections if not more. Basic items that are common and the decent ones are closer to retail pricing than op shopnn$7 for a dirty Avanti steel cup.nnBroken glass on the ground near the window at the glassware shelves.nnNot at all appealing even if it looks like a wonderful store first up.
I think op shops need to remember.n1. Items are donated.n2. The items donated are often a few seasons old even if they are new with tags therefore if the items could have been heavily discounted when originally purchasedn3. Country road, witchery etc are not luxury brands.n4. If you are going to see 'designer pieces' at a high price you should make sure they are Authenticated through a third party otherwise you run the risk of selling fake designer goods.
Big shop that appears clean and well arranged. I was looking for jigsaws and the K Mart ones that are $10 new are $7 here with condition/number of pieces unknown. Very expensive.
Absolutely appalled at the service I received here today. I had picked out a cardigan and a cream/pink scarf that was marked at $12 to purchase. The scarf’s branding tag had been cut so you could not tell where the item was from. When I went to the checkout I was observing other items and the blonde lady that served me then started going on about how the price wasn’t on the scarf. I found this odd because just before walking up to the counter to pay for the items I had confirmed the pricing to make my final decision kind of thinking now that she had purposely ripped the tag off this item, maybe because she had noticed it was not priced correctly?. I retraced my steps and looked for the tag on the floor and I could not find it, and whilst I had a look, this attendant went to the back area for a while and then came back saying that this scarf was Country Road and that it was $40? I am just shocked because the branding had been cut from the tag so you could not tell and when I had picked it out it was $12. Also $40 for a used scarf is absolutely ridiculous, and the lady was so rude to me over it and was comparing sizes with other scarfs to justify the price?nnI think this service goes against the values of Red Cross and I am appalled to have been spoken to the way I was, and it was also disappointing to be lied to.This shop is also taking advantage of people, as all these items are ridiculously expensive. $70 for cardigans, $150 for used and broken handbags, $110 for a Tommy jumper. Much better op shops in other areas where the staff are much kinder. Shame on you.
Ah, the Red Cross Op Shop in North Perth – where the prices are high, the vibes are confusing, and the signage pleads for donations and help… while the store silently dares you to afford anything.nnI walked in hoping for some classic op shop joy – you know, a quirky mug, a threadbare tee with a story, maybe a nana-knit for under a tenner. Instead, I wandered the racks for 5–10 minutes and the cheapest item of clothing I could find? Twenty bucks. TWENTY. For second-hand clothes that looked like they came straight out of a lost-and-found box.nnAnd let’s be clear: this wasn’t some curated “vintage” boutique with exposed brick and ironic playlists. This was a Red Cross. A not-for-profit that seems to have forgotten who op shops are supposed to serve.nnHave we really made second-hand shopping inaccessible for the people who actually need it? Because that’s what it felt like – charity in name, boutique in price tag.nnRed Cross, if your goal is to price out low-income shoppers while cashing in on donated goods, mission accomplished. But let’s not pretend this is about community care anymore. Time to rethink what side of the counter you’re standing on.
