Great food. Excellent wine choices. And fabulous outlook. I could stay all day. Love it
Just enjoyed the most amazing food that I have eaten in a long time. I chose the gnocci which was out of this world as was my partner's risotto which I managed to steal a couple of mouthfuls. The vegetable soup we shared before our mains was the best I have eaten. We will be recommending to all our friends who visit Albany. .
Aptly named, came in as a party of four and told by the waitress that they only have tables for two’s. She said we could wait even though it was obvious there was room she just do not want to move from behind the bar area. We waited for a while then another party of four walked in and promptly started to rearrange tables and chairs. The waitress clearly saw what was happening and did nothing to tell them there were other people waiting. Clearly they employ rats for staff and happier with rats for clients. Keep clear
I liked everything about this place. The service was attentive, the atmosphere was cosy, the wines and beers were great and the food was outstanding. *Service* We were greeted warmly by a woman who appeared to be the owner, who politely told us we could sit wherever we liked, even though we hadn't booked to be honest, I'm not sure booking is possible. The food came out after the perfect amount of time; not so quickly that you feel rushed, but also not so slowly that we felt like we were sitting around waiting. We also had four mains and they all came to the table at the same time. *Food* Our party of four ordered the: beef cheeks with polenta, prosciutto-wrapped chicken breast, risotto, and the curry of the day beef korma. We couldn't fault a single one of the dishes. *Drinks* The drinks menu had a comprehensive wine list, which included a full page of wines by the glass. There are lots of options from local producers from the Great Southern, which is exactly what we were after while visiting Albany. The beers were supplied by Artisan Brewing, so an obvious 10/10 there. We all highly recommend Rats and felt the need to leave this review as a contrasting opinion to the strangely high volume of people who are apparently trying to take kids to a small wine bar with quality food.
We've been here on a few occasions, and we wanted to like it as it is a gorgeous little bar, but our experience every time has been the same. The manager/owner is incredibly rude and uninviting. I don't think hospitality is her calling. We had one drink and ended up leaving due to poor customer service. We won't be returning.
Absolutely fantastic food, location and service. Came for lunch and came back for dinner. Highly recommend. The beef cheeks were divine.
Now what I saw of the food that was being served, it looked delicious, hence the 3 stars ... But what I experienced of the girl serving at the bar tonight, 1 star if that!! She had ZERO personality, felt I was an annoyance and when I enquired about the local Denmark Artisan Beers, she pointed behind her and I had to read and make a choice on my own with absolutely no local knowledge imparted!! If I was the owners of the Denmark Artisan Brewery I would be disappointed she didn't enthuse about their delicious beer as it turned out. If you don't want to work, give someone else a go who DOES want to promote local produce.. you really shouldn't be in customer service unless you're the owner and if you are, you should rethink your career!!!
Stopped in on a cold night for an Irish coffee, welcomed warmly by both atmosphere and staff. Went back next day for wine, great local selection and service.
Nice little bar in great beachside location. Great menu and friendly staff Loads of nearby parking. Easy to recommend this place
Staying at the apartments behind this restaurant. My husband, 4 year old and I walked over to have dinner, walked in and were told we don’t allow children. When my husband asked why she replied “there is a fish and chip shop next door and the kids usually just sit in here and wait for that” the woman was so bizarre and so incredibly rude. Arrogant and disrespectful attitude. We just wanted to have a nice quiet dinner and I’m also 6 months pregnant so didn’t want to walk to far. Each time we walked past this place after that experience we noticed it was empty and now we know why. Such a shame because location is great. The manager/owner should not be in customer service.
