Rare Hare is a beautiful blended restaurant in every way. The casual dining atmosphere mixed with a first class menu and food that would make you think you're at a fine dining venue. The rabbit hare coat room to the full length windows overlooking the winery all work so well together. Staff are friendly, accommodating and attentive. Food comes out at a good pace and is designed to share, and you'll want to share so you can try more of it as it is all wonderful. Make sure you save room for the wood fired choc chip cookie too! Wine list, drinks and coffee here are great. You can not miss here for a venue to eat great food in a relaxed atmosphere.
We attended the venue for Christmas lunch, set menu. The vibe and interior design was really nice and we had a great view of the vineyard while dining. Food and wine both were exceptional with massive portions. We will definitely come back soon to try their usual menus as well.
The good, the we enjoyed most of the food and the wait staff were fantastic. The not so good. We booked our table over a month ago mid week booking and we were given the worst seat in the house. Right at the front door and it was freeing. We asked if we could move and were told quite curtly, you booked a bar table and nothing else is available. There were several tables further inside the restaurant that remained empty the entire time we were there. While they did acknowledge when we arrived that the booking was for a Birthday no further acknowledgement was made. Why ask if there's no purpose to it. I've been looking forward to this lunch and visiting this place for a long time and while it was nice enough I expected a little better. Hot tip don't book the bar tables. They're at the front door. It's breezy, dark and dingy and you miss the amazing views the other part of the restaurant enjoys.
Second time dining here and I'm already telling myself that there will be a third time. The rotating seasonal menu makes visiting each time fun and interesting, and in essence, this also means that only the freshest seasonal produce will grace your table. I honestly can't get enough of the Chocolate Chip Cookie with Malt Ice Cream - rich, chunky and absolutely moreish. The Chives Waffles with Horseradish Creme Fraiche and Salmon Roe showcased bright and bold flavours, and the Beef Cheek was incredibly tender and flavourful. Can't wait to return!
: @rareharewine : @jackalopehotels : Kept hearing about how good the food at Rare Hare is but since it was a bit of a road trip, we didn’t really get a chance to visit until a month ago or 2 lol or so. : All the ingredients are really fresh and tasty. The flavours were really subtle and light. I absolutely loved the grain salad! So many textures and flavours in every bite. For desserts, you 100% must get the baked Chocolate Chip Cookie served warm in a skillet with ice cream on the side. DROOLS .
We had a lovely dinner with friends. The view was amazing and the interior is cosy. Staff were friendly and easy going. Food and drinks was great also, pricing was ok as you would expect as it located in the peninsula area. The noise can be abit too much when the restaurant is full as there is not sound cushion on the roof. Overall we had a nice experience. Would recommend to book in advance if there are more than two people.
Annie our server was excellent! Efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly she did an amazing job! Food and ambience overlooking the vineyards was something special. Smart casual dress is fine.
I like the setting with beautiful view or vine rows, and the modern fireplace in the middle of the room. Staff are attentive and friendly. However a bit disappointing with the foods. Out of 5 dishes ordered, I like two of them: the potato bread and deep fried barramundi. Beef cheek was tender but lack of flavour, scallops were overwhelmed by the sourness of the sauce, so couldn’t taste the scallop at all. Eggplant dish was ok. Won’t be coming here again.
Food was good. Brisket was a little dry. Wait staff weren't attentive. We had to ask for water for the table after our first course was served. We ordered before a table sitting infront of us, but all their drinks and food came out before ours.
Rare hare at Jackalope is a beautiful restaurant. The backdrop of the winery is spectacular and the tables near the fireplace is super cosy especially at winter. The food is so delicious and well paired which we won’t fault. The reason why I’m rating it only 3 stars today though is because of the wait time for our food. Whilst our starters and entrees came out quickly, our mains took forever. Not to mention came all at different times. I think we waited for more than 30 mins in between the entrees and the mains which then meant we were too full to enjoy the mains and also couldn’t enjoy it together as all 3 dishes came out separately. The same thing happened when we ordered the desserts which came out after our coffee and teas were consumed or cold and we had to check on the mains and desserts before they were brought out to us. Not sure if the food were sitting there waiting to be brought out by the waiters or were forgotten by the chefs but for such a well rated restaurant we thought the service did fall short today which was disappointing for a birthday celebration.
